I'm not from San Antonio but i do visit frequently so I like trying hot spots that are local favorites, not just a tourist favorite. On this recent trip I had originally taken the family to 2M Smokehouse. However, they had sold out for the day and I was left scrambling to feed my wife and kids. Luckily Pollos Asados is about a mile away. In a way I'm glad 2M was closed because I got to try another spot that was on my list. The chicken was juicy, flavorful and every bit as good as advertised. I knew I made the right choice when my 5 year old took down 3 tacos by himself. The rice was flavorful and cooked just right, the charro beans were not undercooked and tasty. Service is quick and courteous even when the place is packed and the wait time runs past 30 minutes. On that note, try and beat the lunch and dinner rush because Pollos Asados is popular, rightfully so, so the wait could be a while. I highly recommend Pollos Asados Los Nortenos to everyone, local or tourist alike.

I scoured the internet for SA’s best food and there were countless suggestions to visit this specific Pollos Asados. I gotta be honest, it wasn’t all that. Good food? Sure. Amazing and delicious and a must-visit? Not in my opinion. I know being from Houston might have had an effect on this as similar chicken places are ample and they are very flavorful and juicy and worth it more to me —especially since I have honestly never experienced broken tortillas until this visit 😭 The “half” chicken I was given was really interesting as there was no breast or thigh, but surprisingly a lot of rib meat and legs. Sad because I love dark meat, but for $11, I don’t know what I expected. I will say the salsas were quite delicious, though! And very much needed to add an oomph to the meal. Overall for a budget friendly relatively decent-ish meal, it’s not bad here, just really not worth the extreme hype.

I am in LOVE with the food! I was visiting from Cleveland and asked about authentic Tex-Mex and was directed to this restaurant. I was not disappointed! Everything was so delicious and fresh. Fast service. And that green sauce!!!! This was genuinely one of the best things that I’ve ever eaten. We had the sirloin, the chicken, some sausages. The charro beans were great and Omg that fresh guac! This was my first time in San Antonio and even if it’s just to come back and eat? It will absolutely not be my last! Please brave the winter weather and open a location up North! Everyone here would go crazy for this food!!! Ten stars!

My very good friend recommended this place with very big regards and she was not wrong. Holy shizzzzzzz! The chicken is smoked perfectly and packed with flavor. We got a whole chicken and sides of beans and rice. I fed the family for under 15.00 with drinks. The sweet tea is awesome and whatever is in that green sauce...forget about it! Did I mention they give you fresh tortillas with your order? Pull off the chicken add beans, rice, a piece of smoked onion and drown it in that green sauce. Heavenly I tell you. If you're ever in San Antonio this is a must have. Definitely worth the visit!!

The OG of Pollo asado is on the southeast side and if haven't been here you are missing out. This place is a well orchestrated balance of culinary genius and just down home good cooking on the grill. We got our food within 5 minutes of ordering and left nothing behind. I almost ordered more to take to work. The price was perfect for the amount of food we got and customer service was stupendous. I can see why they have an amazing table turn around. Super efficient restaurant, best I've seen in the city. I will always be a customer. My pictures do not do this place justice.

I don't normally like chicken of any kind, but I actually like the chicken at this place. I've returned a few times now bringing others along with me. The food here is excellent and full of flavor. The chicken is always moist, and the green salsa amazing. Plates here are very affordable and make for a good meal out on a budget. Service is fast and food comes out really quick. It never fails to surprise the people I take there. The only downside is that this place can get pretty busy in the evenings and weekends, making it hard to park or creating a wait to get in.
