Taqueria La Tapatia — Restaurant in San Antonio

So I discovered this place about a year and half ago and I ordered Piccadilly, Carne guisada, and bean and cheese through drive thru. Food , service was really good however the Carne guissds was melt in your mouth, flavorful, the best in San Antonio. Everything I'm on this side of town I make it a point to get a Carne guisada taco . So tonight same thing. 2 Carne guisada 1 beN and cheese. Drive thru. I start on it before I'm even out of parking lot and first bite a little chewy but I figured I'll get through it but end up throwing the chewy piece out the window. No big deal it happens with Carne guisada every once in a while. 2nd bite same thing so I figure I'll take it back and explain and figure bad batch and I'll just get two fagita tacos in exchange but to my surprise I was told they will exchange one taco but since I ate half the taco they will charge me for one. It's a taco . You take two bites yeah it's half a taco and both bites were spit out because it was not tender but tough. Even though they probably will still make the best Carne guisada most of the time they lost me as a customer on this . Manager is not one who has any customer service experience skills instead he talks through the cashier instead of coming up to me to tslk. Then talk to the cook about my complaint as if gossip is what you should do insteD of trying to make me like I still want to eat here. It is what it is and owners have their reasons why they allow managers to be managers. Don't know why he wouldn't replace both both tacos. They are always busy and they won't lose any customers because of thid review but they probably wont gain any either. I dont do reviews but this really kinda threw me off for a sec. Ill end up gping back eventually probzbly but just make sure il take only one small bite to ensure i dont eat half so i can sub our if...

The wait was very long for there to be just three cars in drive thru. The food was not really seasoned enough.. we got a beef taco, nachos with guacamole, carne gusida with cheese and two adult drinks. Each car had a 5 to 7 minute wait. I also received a bean & cheese instead of my carne - but I drove back around, for another long wait- and it was replaced & they applogized. The lady took my partially eaten bean & cheese back- I thought that was weird as other places say they can't take food back and to just keep it due to the pandemic. It was not tasty either (except for the tortilla) so we weren't sad about seeing it taken. My food was warm but not hot as if it was just made -so I am not too sure the reason for the wait.

The drinks were good - we got two frozen margaritas. The carne was really tender and there was enough cheese, it just didn't taste like I expected. It may be a different recipe used because while it looked like yumminess, it tasted like blah.. if you are in a seasoning restricted diet, this may be the place for you... The star of that taco was the tortilla!!! I was pleasantly surprised about the yumminess of the tortilla. Give me more tortilla!! (Did I mention it was a good tortilla? Lol)... it's just what they filled the tortilla with was not good... everything else was ok...

Nothing really for me to want to come back for except the drinks and tortilla but as long as the drive thru wait was for barely warm food - I will pass. There are about seven other restaurants on that strip of Rigsby that I know has yummy food... I tried this newer restaurant and you should too.. they may have had a bad day... the drive thru lady was not friendly but pleasant... no apology for the wait, which makes me believe its the normal wait time. It was after 5pm yesterday...

Just went through the drive thru and ordered 12 tacos because we have the grandkids staying with us. I got home and one of the kids was up. I asked if she was hungry and she said yes. I told her what kind of tacos that I bought and asked her what she wanted. She said one country & egg and one bean & cheese. As we were sitting there eating and talking when she finished her first taco. When she opened her second taco which was a bean & cheese she tells me “ look grandma, it looks like someone took three bites from the taco.” I looked at it and she was right. So I opened and looked at the rest of the tacos and they all looked good. So I called and asked to speak to a manager or supervisor, the girl who answered the phone asked who’s this? I told a customer that came through your drive thru and bought 12 tacos. I talked to the manager and he acted like he didn’t know what to do. I told what the taco looked like and he said what do you want me to do. Do you want your money back or another taco. I said I wanted my money back . He said can you bring in the taco and I said fine. We live around 2 to 3 miles away but I said I would take him the taco. I get there and wait around 5 to 10 minutes . When he finally comes to get the taco he opens it back up and tells me “ oh, well it looks like a child took bites from the taco, a little kid”. I looked at him and said she’s not a little kid. May ind you I have teenagers here with me. He tried to make sound like she took bites of the taco. Basically he really didn’t want to give me my money back, he wanted me just to get another taco. This man needs serious training on how to handle customers complaints. I should know since I was an food service manager for over 12...
