Okay.... I hate to have to do this, but it needs to be put out for the public to read. Because if you are going to be a customer at this location? You need to be wary of your servers and their handling of your transaction. I was just there with my girlfriend and her family, we had two separate tickets, one with six of us on it, another with three of us. The food was okay at best, nothing special. El Tipico's consistently having problems in the customer service area though, at least at this location. We've been there a few times with family, but this one was the worst.
As stated, the food was okay, the drinks were fine, though it was odd to have our salsa served in tiny plastic cups that you couldn't even dip a chip into at all. At the end of our meal, they took care of the tickets. The tickets as stated were just two, totally different tickets. One of them (Ticket A) had six orders on it and (Ticket B) had three orders on it. Simple enough, as they are using tablets with software on it to handle the orders. But.... Here's where things go bad, the waitress came out, couldn't speak English well enough, she had someone with her to translate. That's not the problem though, the problem was, she had charged Ticket A's meal on Ticket B's credit/debit card, and Ticket B's on Ticket A's. To make matters worse? She came out and asked that the party on Ticket A, to correct her mistake, by paying the party on Ticket B the difference.
In all my 5 years (2 years of it in management) in the food industry, 20 years in retail (With over 8 years of that in management), I've never seen so much incompetence in a single handling of a mistake made by the server. Because all she had to do was VOID out the transactions and Re-Ring them to correct her mistake. Then the customers would have had to know nothing of what happened and everything would have been just fine. I will be calling them up and talking with their manager over this.
Reason I'm putting this up here for all of you? Is the fact if they can mess that up so badly in a single table, two party setting? Just imagine them handling multiple tables at the same time, charging you for another table's ticket? It could work out fine or not in your favor, either way, someone will be charged incorrectly and paying the wrong ticket if they don't know to watch out for it. I felt like the Three Stooges could have handled this better.... The only reason I'm not giving a one star rating is that the food was okay, that's it. Their service needs a...
Read moreAfter my grandfathers funeral we decided to eat here because we had been before for a large family dinner. We called ahead of time and were told they could accommodate a party of 19 people. Well when we got there the waitress gave us to go cups and we didn’t really think anything about it and then took all of our orders. Right before giving us our food we were informed they had no more flour tortillas and the way we were told was pretty rude along with some faces here and there while she was serving our table. Having no flour tortillas was a problem because that meant we had to change my son’s order since all he wanted were tacos but doesn’t like corn tortillas. Then after the meal my brother got the ticket and was charged for more drinks then people that we had in our party and also we were charged for chips and salsa because they had to bring out more than 2. (Keep in mind there was 17 of us) We were also charged for to go cups that we didn’t ask for and when my brother decided to ask about the charges on the bill the waitress started raising her voice and arguing and being really rude about it. They also included her tip within the check that ended up being almost $500 so she ended up getting a $70 tip for being unprofessional and rude. We were long time customers but now will definitely not be going back. I was actually embarrassed that I had recommended this place to our family. The cold service and our arguing waitress was not what we needed after a very hard day...
Read moreIt was not nearly as good as it used to it be. The prices even gone up for what we normally get when we go. A friend of mine that used to live in San Antonio came to visit me and we used to go to El tipico on special occasions and get that sizzling platter for 2 where they bring out the sizzling fajita platter with sausage and and big cheese filled peppers and bacon wrapped shrimp full of goodness. When we went the last time the shrimp were overcooked they weren't wrapped in bacon like usually and it really seemed to have less food on the platter. It was in the middle of the day so maybe there's a different cook at that time. In the past we always went after 5 in the evening and there was always the manager or the owner checking on all of his customers makeing sure everything was alright. Nobody really came to check on us except the waitress but that is her job and she got tipped well for doing her job well. I will probably go back and get another platter hoping they were just having an off-day but if it's the same as the last one I received the last time that will be my last time taking company from out of town there. For $60 for two people I really expected much better food like what we were used to getting on all of our...
