So I've been coming here since day 1 when they opened. There hasn't been 1 day that I've had bad service. On top of that, when I come back the bartenders remember me and have small talk with me. They also know my go to beer, Crawford Boch. They are personal and I like that. The Screwball Peanut Butter Whiskey shot is the best. But get it chilled. The old school video games are the best.

Decent hole in the wall bar. Nothing to write home about. Music was a bit loud on a Sunday evening with only 8 people in the bar. Couldn't hear the game and difficult to have a conversation. Bartender was pleasant. Food is nonexistent here. They have frozen pizzas for $8, I did not try. Vintage arcade games line one of the walls and a couple pinball machines.

Has an always will be one of my favorite San Antonio bars. I’m actually surprised I haven’t left a review yet, I’ve been visiting for at least five years. The music is a blast and the specials are always on point. I can’t emphasize enough how special this place is for local musicians. Intimate shows with a music range that will surprise you.

Edit: Limelight has now changed to Slackers and upon visiting, it feels like all the love and soul that was in this establishment is gone. While having pinball machines and darts were neat, the ending of yet another bar which was supporting local music is downright saddening.

Limelight is great in bar service- no matter how lengthy the lines may appear, it's bartenders know how to quickly prepare and remember individual drink orders so things go pretty quickly rather than waiting in line forever. They're also very kind and likewise the crowd. It's a chill vibe where you can go enjoy drinks and local music. Also, it seems Limelight added a tall, propane, outdoor heater which was helpful when it did get cold out!

The biggest downside that could stand to be improved however is: Sound quality. Whoever runs sound doesn't do the greatest job and it drastically impacts MANY bands- it ends up disappointing when you want to hear the vocalist, but they're drowned out and despite them conveying to the sound person an issue, it continues as a problem. As someone who goes to a lot of local shows, I see this a lot specifically at Limelight.

This ends up extra disappointing because the stage lighting and even stage placement are great for up close fun.

I'd recommend this place for if you want to hear local bands play and don't mind the audio quality or if you basically want to drink with a few friends while hearing music in the background, it's a perfect...

Weird, had great times at the slackers by North Star a few years ago but had no clue the chain turned into a sexist establishment. Tried to head out to the one on St. Mary’s with a group of friends and one male friend got turned away for wearing a black tank top. Mind you, it’s August, 90 degrees out still and it was riddled with holes or unkempt.

Was told it’s not within dress code for men. We pointed out several women were wearing spaghetti strap tank tops and less then him to which the bouncer responded, “it’s different for women”. I’m sorry but Slackers is not the Ritz nor a high end bar. It’s 2023, the middle of summer, and absurd to have double standards.

We ended up taking our female friends button up, putting it on the male friend, and then getting...

The renovations on this bar/venue have made coming here a pleasant experience. The sound for one is a step up from what it was before. The beer selection is good and the staff is always friendly. The shows I've been to lately have been solid, but whoever is promoting shows needs to be fed to the wolves. They do a horrible job of promoting the shows and I feel it's a complete disservice to the artist coming through. I don't know how promotion works, but seriously Limelight, do a better job, a WAY better job of spreading the word on artists and shows that are not local- update your damn Facebook events pages at least. That is my main complaint. Other than that, Ulcerate played the best show...
