I visited Smoke Shack today, eager to try their Impossible Burger. When placing my order, I informed the cashier of my severe allergies and specifically requested no dairy, eggs, or bread. Unfortunately, she was dismissive and simply stated that the burger doesn't come with cheese.
To my dismay, my order arrived with Parmesan cheese sprinkled all over it. I explained to the waitress that I have anaphylaxis and cannot consume dairy, requesting that my meal be remade. She responded that there wasn't much cheese and suggested I just remove the top layer of lettuce. I reiterated that I could not eat it.
The waitress took my plate to the kitchen, but instead of remaking the burger, they merely removed the lettuce. When the "new" order was brought to my table, it still had bits of cheese on the lettuce and touching the burger. I then asked a different waitress for a refund, showing her the cheese. After explaining my severe dairy allergy for the third time, I insisted on a refund. She offered to remake the meal, but I declined.
I'm extremely disappointed that this establishment does not take deadly food allergies seriously and seems to think cross-contamination is acceptable. It is unacceptable for a restaurant to be so careless with customers' health. They should not be allowed to serve anyone until they can ensure food safety and proper...
Read moreI came in here prior to my trip to Denver. There were some people sitting by the glass facing the runways and others in the tables. I sat at the bar.
I had to get the lady's attention because she was on her phone.
She did a great upsell after I ordered my Johnny Walker, and asked if I wanted a double for $5. I said yes.
I ordered the Brisket Nachos and the fries. The Brisket meat seemed cold, avacado was fresh and chips were ok. The fries were perfect. Food was tasty but could have been prepped better. Seemed like they put cheese in, then the chips then the brisket with avocado.
If meat was warm and lady would have been attentive from the start, would have rated a four. Worker did just enough to get by.
Social Distancing is requested and same for masks.
The George Gervin Bar was more attentive and cosy, but was always busy.
I am showing my bill so you can see what I spent. Ok, but could have been...
Read moreREAD BEFORE COMING HERE I grew up in Austin TX, 2 hours north of here. I pride myself a BBQ aficionado. I smoke my own brisket and all. We decided to stop at the smoke shack in the San Antonio airport, and I regret saying I was pretty disappointed. I know you can't expect much from airport BBQ, but still. The brisket comes pre chopped, and very dry. Mac and Cheese had a pool of grease I poured out. You can see it in the dish in the photo. The "seasoned" fries had perhaps been stored next to some parsley and accidentally got exposed, but I wouldn't call them seasoned. The ribs were passable, but also dry and a touch tuff. Chopped Brisket sandwich was also dry, with no pickles onions or anything else. All in all, as a Texan I would hate for someone passing through to think this is typical Texas BBQ. Service was...
