Smokey Mo's BBQ — Restaurant in San Antonio

Many times over and over and over I always saw the restaurant packed even through this pandemic every time I've been there was either for one of my clients or my wife who absolutely loves it by the way their service is above and beyond their kindness their customer service is unmatched I cannot personally say that I have eaten their food as I've always been full when there or working. But I can honestly say this everyone I've ever talked to including my wife says it is delicious and I can tell you that by The view and the conversations I've had of the many clients along with my wife hands down some of the best I've been in there many times the restaurant is clean very sanitary very nice people and I cannot express the appreciation that the customers and smoke mo's and it's employees have have as it brings home cooking barbecue and customer service and cleanliness that rivals anything today. and I would rate them in my top five places to eat in all of San Antonio and there are many good places easy lovable and delicious something that when you see the customer eating the product or in line they don't mind that way so I suggest you go down there try it out you see one pass one you stopping because their customer service and the way they welcome their customer is a mission statement in itself and this is the longest review I've ever posted because it deserves every bit of it and if you see a long line it's definitely worth the wait I promise you won't regret it

The reason for my five-star review with this restaurant: personally I like giving reviews based on first and foremost the restaurants bathroom and then on their food. The reason for this is because I believe that if your bathroom is clean, then your kitchen must be clean to. Which is a big deal to me because with restaurants handling your food that you're about to ingest, you want to know if they're keeping their kitchen clean. I have to say I was really impressed with their bathroom. It blew me away because I have not experience that in most of San Antonio restaurants. If you don't make time for your bathroom are you making time for your kitchen? Something to think about when eating out. I went up to the cashier to place my order she was warm and friendly. I asked to speak to the manager in order to let them know how impressed I was with their bathroom. He came to me right away and was proud of how he keeps his bathroom clean. That made me feel warm and fuzzy and giggly all at the same time. Lol..... The food I ordered was a double meat plate with green beans and another side item I can't remember at the moment. Anyways my order came out super fast and oh my god...did the brisket just melt in your mouth, I didn't need BBQ sauce because their meat was already perfect, so I can't honestly speak of their sauce. The sausage was really good, but my main focus was totally the brisket. :-) The green beans were super delish but I did have to add a bit a salt. Perhaps that is just me I need salt in my life. My husband didn't add salt to his so it's probably just me. Lol Anywho...I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that loves BBQ! This restaurant by far is the best of San Antonio has to offer. It puts all the other BBQ restaurants to shame. Definitely will keep...

I got a 2 meat combo (brisket and turkey) with mac and cheese and potato salad. I also got a banana pudding for dessert. I ordered this place through DoorDash, and I understand the downside of trying a new place through food delivery. However, it shocked me that the brisket was drier than the turkey. I typically really like Texas-style BBQ turkey, and I thought this was decent. It was as dry as expected as delivered food, but was still tender and flavorful. However, the brisket was just not good. It was tough and dry, and stacking on bread with pickles, onions, and sauce was not enough to save it, sadly. Again, I'm sure the DoorDash experience isn't the best one to judge Smokey Mo's on, but I expect brisket at a BBQ place to be stellar, as it's one of the core BBQ meats.

The mac and cheese was good, typical super creamy cheese sauce with elbow mac. It wasn't anything mind-blowing, but it was good. It was like a really good boxed mac and cheese haha. The potato salad was probably my favorite part of the 2 meat meal. Good flavor, I liked the slight tanginess. The toast provided with the meal was fine. The banana pudding was pretty good, but like the mac and cheese, it was like a really good homemade banana pudding with boxed Jello vanilla pudding. Still good though. Overall, I expected much better, but I would try this place again...
