Holiday Inn Express & Suites San Antonio - Frost Bank Ctr by IHG — Hotel in San Antonio

Where to start...the entrance from the street is dangerous - from a highway frontage access road. Signage to the hotel is not lit so it's easy to miss it and have to go around the block (a considerable time penalty). The entrance is gravel and unmarked and not smooth so avoid the potholes. Back entrance to the property is gated and is not open from about 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. So if you leave earlier than 9 a.m., you have to exit directly onto a high-speed road. The road to the back gate is more safe but they don't open the gate timely in the morning. Upon getting out of the car, I saw a large dead bird on the ground near the entrance. Should have turned around and found another place at this point but it was late. Night check-in was friendly. Guest room bathroom was not clean - hairball from prior guest stuck to shower wall. Showerhead only reachable if you are a collegiate or higher basketball player, or you can climb up on the side of the tub (do this at your own risk). Went to work the next day and guest room was broken into and belongings taken. Notified the staff and they said to file a police report - there's nothing they can do and the hotel is not responsible. They would cooperate with poiice and share camera footage with police. Hotel manager said they would get back to me and never did. I've called back several times and there is never anyone of authority at the hotel. Now I am working with IHG to get some kind of help. I've been on hold now for 35 minutes. I am hoping someone will help me. I really regret that my company's hotel chain is IHG. I regret even more that I stayed...

I stayed at this hotel this past weekend. Checked in Friday and after finding evidence of bed bugs (on the mattress and having a series of bed bug bites on my arms and shoulders) on Saturday we checked out that night. The hotel clerk told me a manager would call me by Monday about the experience. I never heard from a manager on Monday so I called the hotel on Tuesday. I was told that the manager wasn’t in and I left another message to have a manager call me. I was assured a manager would reach out Wednesday and was told if I didn’t hear from the manager to give a call back. I called the office Wednesday and was informed that the manager had already left for the day.

You would think when it’s a matter of bed bugs that I would have received a call from the manager the next day, but that was not the case.

I was finally able to speak with the manager today, Thursday. Unfortunately she just made excuses (saying that she never got a message to contact me, though that is a reflection on her if her team didn’t give her the messages) and was not apologetic of the experience either.

We have stayed at many Holiday Inn Express hotels, my husband and son thought this location had the best breakfast options. It is a good location with Walmart, Chick Fil A and other shopping very close. I felt safe in the area. The beds and air conditioning were comfortable. My only issue was the bathroom. It needed a deep cleaning. There were a few stains in the tub and the bottom of the toilet was dirty or stained. There is no vent in the bathroom so after the second shower of the morning, the sink counter was wet with all the accumulated moisture. Anything we had on the counter was wet too. The soap, conditioner and body wash seemed to be in the wrong bottles. The conditioner produced a lot of suds and left my hair feeling gross. The body wash did not make any suds. I guess those two were mixed up. Another small issue, there was a knock at the door at 11:10 am. When I opened the door there was an employee there and the only thing she said was Check Out. I let her know were leaving shortly. She didn't say anything and walked away. I thought we missed our check out but I looked at my reservation and it said check out was 12:00.
