Unfortunately, this visit guarantees I will not be back to Texas Roadhouse in the future. The waiting experience was miserable, the food poorly prepared, and we ended our dinner just trying to get out of there.
We called the restaurant to get on the wait list and the automated attendant stated you had to join through the app or website. So we went on the app and joined the wait list, which indicated 40-50 minutes for a table. Once we arrived, we had to park at a business next door because there was no parking available. We checked in on the app to let them know we were there. Once we made it inside it was standing room only, and incredibly loud. The area that used to be dedicated to sitting room for those waiting on a table has now been converted in to a staging area for to-go orders. We stood for 30 minutes before finally being able to grab a seat on a bench. When I went to verify with the hostess that we were on the wait list she let me know she would "check us in" which I guess is different from checking in on the app.
Several groups came in to inquire about waits and join the wait list who were ultimately seated before us. Not sure what that was about and not going to speculate. It would have been nice if the hosts had done some crowd control and tried to clear a path for those exiting or set some expectations instead of just chatting amongst themselves and servers about their weekend plans.
After over an hour we were finally taken to a table. 10 minutes later our drink orders were taken. 20 minutes after that all our drinks arrived and we could place our order. It would be another 30 before our entrees arrived. Never got refills on any of our drinks. The delay might be due to the fact that every 10 minutes or so Texas Roadhouse cranks up their radio so loud that you can't speak to each other at your table and forces their staff to go do some miserable line dance in the middle of the walkway. Peppered in to the radio station (and not danced to) are advertisements and songs about Texas Roadhouse, you know in case you forgot where you were. While you are at your table, a tablet display will flash more advertisements at you and take up real estate on your table.
I had ordered the 23oz porterhouse T-bone, as we were celebrating. What I got was more like a B-bone and the bone took up a quarter to a third of the steak. Also, what I had ordered as medium rare had come out well done, as you can see in the pictures. It was tough to chew and overall a disappointing steak. Even the manager cringed when I showed them the cook. To their credit, they did comp the steak on the final check. The broccoli I ordered for a side consisted of 4 florets, each with a stem over 2 inches.
There were various issues with the other plates as well and none of us ended up eating all our food.
Finally we were all just ready to get out of there. They force you to checkout via the tablet I mentioned earlier. The only way to get a receipt is to provide your email so they can email it to you and probably sign you up for some spam list so they can continue advertising to you after you've managed to escape.
**As an update, a manager did call and explained that the line dancing and turning up the music loud was just part of their atmosphere. The entry crowds do get a little packed but that's because customers don't wait in their cars in the parking lot and prefer to wait inside. She apologized for the food and offered to send a gift card to cover the cost of the meal on a future visit. I declined the offer and asked that she donate it to the food bank or a good...
Read moreTexas Roadhouse is usually the place that I go to in order to treat myself to a really nice dinner and I always have a good time here! Unfortunately, last evening, I had a pretty sour experience, and I wanna preface by saying I am also a server, I understand the stress that comes with being sat a table right before close. However, we came right at 9 and intended on being there for a quick meal after a Sunday full of busy errands while also giving him a good tip with the awareness we were cutting it a little too close on time. Roadhouse is usually a place where the service never stagers regardless of the time usually. At first I had to return my sweet tea because it was unsweet both times and the first time he exaggerates a sigh and leaves my new tea without saying a word. My boyfriend thought it was rude but I didn’t think much of it, and then this new drink was also unsweetened. I ended up asking the other server who dropped off our salads for a water instead and he was super nice and understanding, and even told the server about the drink change hoping we would probably get it off the bill. The rest of our visit our server is near us cleaning but it’s super disappointing whenever you hear the server behind you complain to the host about getting sat with our table right in front of us… We got super uncomfortable whenever our server began grumbling under his breath, cursing, and then once I saw him bang his head on the table he was cleaning???? I knew we had to leave. We ended up rushing out to leave without even worried about the charge for the sweet tea because I don’t think Roadhouse has ever had any service I would’ve ever even complained about, let alone make me uncomfortable. I know this is not the hospitality he was trained to provide, because the host, the manager, and other servers were amazing and attentive! I truly believe this is a means of retraining, you don’t complain in front of the guest about them, and you certainly don’t bang your head on a table… However, I do love this place and it is the closest one to my house, I just hope next time will be a better experience than...
Read moreI invited 12 of my good friends to share a birthday dinner with me at Texas Roadhouse on 1604 and Culebra. I called at 5 p.m. to be put on the wait list for 7 p.m. I was told I would be to seated around 7:15 p.m. and was asked did if I wanted to be seated at a booth sitting side by side or back to back, I choose to be seated side to side. After waiting until past 7:30 p.m. to be seated and my party of 12 had arrived before 7:15, I was then told we could not be seated side by side, but only back to back. When I asked to speak to a manager, the waitress, Jennifer, who was awesome and done a great job in catering to our needs, came to ask if I had an opportunity to talk to the manager and I told her no one came. I was told there were 2 managers working, Krystal and Cassandra. Neither one would come to our table to speak with me. Being that Texas Roadhouse has been my favorite restaurant for years, but I've always dined at the 410 location, I decided to dine at this location due to the close proximity to my house. The food was good, our waitress Jennifer was great, but I will not return to that location due to the lack of customer service skills the managers demonstrated. I brought 13 paying customers to this location to be totally ignored by the managers. If they had told me that they could not accommodate the seating arrangements we had agreed upon when I asked to be put on the wait list, I would have certainly looked for another establishment in the area. You have lost several patrons to this location due to the disrespect of the managers to...
