Yesterday was my first time trying Taco Palenque Bandera, and I thought it was pretty good. I decided to have it again today for lunch, and went to this location, since it is closer to my house. This location is inconsistent at best and I'm assuming is filled with new personnel or training is lacking. My sirloin street tacos were filled with "fat" and "gristle", and for six, only had enough grilled onions for one.
Furthermore, my wife decided to go to them after work. When asking about her military discount (while standing in her uniform), the young lady at the register stated "do you have a military discount/do you have it?". Which was a strange question. (Note: there was NO language barrier). Then, when she finally gets the card (after she finally decides or realizes that she needs that), she tried to quote my wife the same price and didn't get help, since she did not know how to do it. She also, rang up the order wrong and then proceeded to tell my wife that her Burrito came with a drink, when she specifically told her she only wanted the burrito and not a combo.
Also, last night when I went and during lunch today, they put the red sauce and green, in the little compartments, and placed them in bags. BUT, they told my wife, she had to get her own at the bar. The experience at this location seemed "off". Did not like the feeling that I or more wife received. Did not "feel" inviting at all and felt like our presence was not welcomed (if you catch my drift). IF I decide to go back to this restaurant, I guess I'll have to go to the one on Bandera, behind Gold's...
Read moreThese pictures show you how the quality of this place has decreased. Taco Palenque is advertising this amazing looking corn in a cup in picture 1. But actually you get served what picture number 2 shows. I am truly disappointed. I paid $5.00 dollars and I regret trying this product. The taste gets lost and you can't tell you are eating corn at all. It almost felt you are only eating some sort of Tajin chili spice. Sorry, but this is what it felt to me. I can't speak for anyone else. 0 stars for me. I will not recommend you waste your money on this product. Hopefully it was only on the day I went to eat. Even the little bowl of cheese dip which I bought separately was horrible. It was wattery like deluted with too much milk. When I took it back to the cashier who sold it to me she said "Oh, that is normal, this is how it is supposed to be." I told her that this is not how this has been served to me for as many years since I have been a faithful customer for the longest. Finally, Humberto the manager made me a new serving and this time it was how this place has been serving cheese dip for the longest. My point is, that it is disappointing when you have to argue with the restaurant staff to get your food served with the quality they offer and you are used to. And it's awkward when you do this because it makes you feel like you are the problem. Thank you Humberto for making it right on the cheese dip issue, but don't let it get to the point where your customers have to inform you that your food's quality is decreasing. 0...
Read moreTaco Palenque was recently a topic of discussion on a FB page and I happened to be close by today so I thought I'd check it out again. The person that had posted complained about the price and it is kind of pricey for a fast food place. But if you dine in, there's that awesome all-you-can-eat salsa and chips bar with lots to choose from. There's also a variety of vegetables such as cucumbers and radishes. My favorite is the grilled jalapeños. I had the tampiquena, which consisted of a crispy taco, a red enchilada, fajitas, rice and beans. I chose their corn tortillas because I was told they're made in-house. The portions are huge. Their fajitas are wonderful, full of delicious flavor and so, so tender. The crispy taco was good, not great but enjoyable. The beans are ok, the rice isn't to my liking but I added red salsa and it was better. The other thing I didn't like was their enchilada. The plate was $16.99, but the portions are generous. Another main reason I went there is because I have been before and their delicious margaritas are a bargain at $5. That and the fajitas alone will keep me going back. Next time I'm going to try their fideo as a side. This might become my go-to since I've recently moved back into the...
