Thai Lao 78 — Restaurant in San Antonio

This is going to be a very mixed review. Just forewarned. First impressions, the lady in the front was very nice, helpful, a complete joy to interact with her. A little upset due to the dining room being closed and only can do take out. Even so, while there the part of the dining room that was visible was very clean, was even able to see a good portion of the kitchen, and for it being an Asian cuisine restaurant, and how messy it can get, it was very very clean, which surprised me and made me feel good about my late lunch choice with my son and roommate. To start with on food me and the roommate both had an order of their potstickers, and wow, blown away on the flavors and texture. Really the best part of my meal, and the miso sauce served with the potstickers had to be a recipe unique to the restaurant, and it was very good. Room mate had the Phuket Seafood Curry which she stated was very good, she rated it as a 7.5 out of 10. My son had the Kung Pao said he loved it, a 10 out 10. Myself, I had the Yakisoba with mixed vegetables and beef. My son and room mate loved their food, however I was displeased with my choice. First off, I know I had the yakisoba with mixed vegetables and beef, but, there was way to many vegetables. It was more of a stir fry than it was a noodle plate. Speaking of noodles, here is where it really lacked for me, they were not the traditional noodles Japan uses for yakisoba, this was more like spaghetti noodles. The flavor was all wrong, as well as the texture. Its a good thing I had the pot stickers or my personal opinion of their food would not be good at all, that and the Thai Tea, the tea was stronger flavored than other Thai Restaurants I have had, but still very good. Howdy! all Thai FM 78 loyalist like yoda from Star Wars states " You will see...." how good Fa she is the woman behind the counter or kitchen with her husband and family. Awesome! respectful people that make our favorite type of meals. I gotta say been going to this spot 5 star resturant since they open 3 years ago and never have complained about anything and that's rare for anyone to say that around this side of town Converse, San Antonio, Kirby area. Let me tell you all currys are awesome plain, mild, and hot. The combination rices beat China Express and Wu's even though they are located on FM 78. I would recommend all appetizers the cheese rolls, egg rolls, and potstickers. Anyone who hasn't tasted Thai or never been here I can honestly say you will never go back to any other resturant than here. The food is so well made and delicious. The staff for being a small family business running it treat you like a human not just no one like going to drive thrus around here in the area. The prices are good can not complain for the food and quality you get in your to go plates or resturant plates. Go ahead and try a bit of everything and like I said "You will see" How good and delicious this food is and Fa the owners first name will treat you good like she treats my family when we order to go or eat there very good and nice. Bought over $50 of food for my family visiting. Arrived at the restaurant at the time the pick up was projected for and had to wait even though the lady had my order and was talking unnecessarily. The food I received was all cold and oily. All the food was salt and inedible and might have been left over food for the taste of it. The beef and broccoli was like a salty soup with no veggies, all broth, and little beef. The pad see ew noodles was jelly like and nasty. The fried rice with beef was greasy and had only a couple of small shredded pieces that tasted mostly like salt. This experience was just embarrassing and disappointing. Update: DO NOT BRING YOUR BUSINESS HERE. The lady got upset because I wanted a refund on her nasty old salty food and more upset because I wrote an honest review about her restaurant. Don't trust these reviews for this place ! She tells people to leave only good reviews for a refund. If you leave reviews "that's no good business for you and no good business" for her.

This place doesn't care about wasting your money and is aggressive toward customers when it's their job to make food right. Also she says she refund me for the food but I only got a partial refund for 1 out of 3 of the meals...
