I had not been to a Torchy’s Tacos in quite awhile. It was a very busy day and I had skipped lunch. It was approaching 4pm and as I was wrapping up my work day, I thought I’d get my order of Torchy’s “to go”. I ordered queso & chips, guacamole & chips and 3 tacos on yummy flour tortillas. I ordered the Crossroads ( Brisket, Cilantro,  Grilled onions,  Jalapeños,  Avocado,  Jack cheese & Tomatillo sauce), the Tipsy Chick (Chicken Fajita, Cheddar,  Corn,  Green Chiles,  Spinach,  Bacon Bourbon Marmalade,  & Chipotle Ranch) and Mr. Orange (Salmon, Cilantro,  Black Bean & Corn Relish,  & Poblano Ranch). I went back to my hotel and enjoyed it with a Japanese Sapporo beer that I had purchased earlier. I ate about a third of the queso and chips—always excellent! Then, tried the salmon and beef tacos. They both really hit the spot and I decided to save the Tipsy Chick taco for a late night snack or breakfast! Also, I tried a few bites of their creamy guacamole, but wound up keeping it cool and taking it home and using it for a quite excellent avocado toast for a couple of breakfasts. I don’t know what magic they mix with the avocados, but somehow it stayed fresh & green for 2 breakfasts and tasted great! The take out dinner was just what I wanted and needed, and more importantly, I realized my visits to Torchy’s should not be so infrequent!

One of the newer locations since Torchy's started expanding - this one seems great for larger parties and has a dedicated bar area and outside area. If you didn't know, it's a chain that started out of Austin. These are not your traditional tex-mex tacos. Think of them more as fusion tacos with some ingredients having tex-mex inspiration. While not vegetarian, I was a huge fan of the "Independent" taco which had fried portobello mushroom strips, refried black beans, roasted corn, escabeche carrots, cotija cheese, cilantro and fresh avocado. It was amazing however they changed up their menu, losing tacos and certain ingredients when they franchised. Now I get the Fried Avocado taco; change the mixed cheddar cheese to cotija cheese, add grilled corn and pickled jalapenos/onions, and remove the pico de gallo. It's not the exact same but is reminiscent of the warm, savory, and spicy flavors I miss. I also grab the taco of the month because it's usually some interesting ingredient mix that I'd never have done on my own. Feb '22 was the Scallywag taco: coconut-battered shrimp, bacon, green chiles, pickled onions, jack cheese, cilantro and peach habanero jam. Reminds me of a sweet and spicy Baja shrimp taco.

We had heard about Torchys before and it had been on our list to try for a long time, but we are rarely in this part of town. Man, are we glad we came! Although you wouldn't be able to tell by the size, this is a counter-service place. They have tons of space inside and outdoor seating, as well. These are not your ordinary tacos, so if you're craving traditional, go somewhere else. Torchys offers the unique options you'll usually only find at a fancy restaurant or specialty food truck. We got the following tacos: Scallywag, Tipsy chick, Republican, Mr. Orange, and Chicken Fajita. They were all delicious and unlike anything we have gotten elsewhere. We also got the Green Chile Queso, which was also good, and plenty of it. This is the first place I have ever been where we ran out of chips before we ran out of queso. The tacos are also not small. They recommend ordering two (three if you're really hungry), but we were all full after one. The size did make them difficult to eat by hand, though. We left all raving about it and are planning on adding it to our regular rotation.

This restaurant is a popular fast-casual Tex-Mex restaurant chain with several locations in Texas, including one in San Antonio. I recently had the pleasure of dining at the San Antonio location, and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed with my experience.

First off, the atmosphere of the restaurant is fun and inviting, with colorful decor and a lively energy. The staff was also friendly and helpful, making sure I had everything I needed to enjoy my meal.

Now, onto the main event: the food. Torchy's Tacos has an extensive menu of tacos, burritos, bowls, and more, all with a unique and delicious twist. I tried the Trailer Park taco, which is their signature dish, and it did not disappoint. The taco was filled with tender and flavorful fried chicken, green chilies, lettuce, pico de gallo, and cheese, all wrapped up in a warm flour tortilla. I also tried the street corn, which was sweet and savory with just the right amount of seasoning.

Overall, my experience at Torchy's Tacos in San Antonio was fantastic. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was lively and fun. If you're looking for a tasty and unique Tex-Mex dining experience in San Antonio, I would highly recommend giving Torchy's...

I'm really wanting to like this place. It's relatively close to home and the food ain't bad. However, my order somehow keeps falling through the cracks when I come. The first time, I ordered to go and sat down, but after several of the folks that where behind me in line ordered, received, ate and left before my order came out, I had to find some help. The order never made it to the kitchen. They swiftly made the order, but I was there in a not particular busy time on a weekday afternoon and it took over 50 minutes to receive my to go order. The next visit I took my family, including the toddlers, for a weekend lunch. This time we ordered to eat in the restaurant. The drinks and appetizer came to the table pretty quick, but the meal was again significantly delayed compared to those around us. On both occasions, I made no complaint and on both occasions they gave a couple of freebies as apologies, but it is a noisy and crowded place where it's not all that fun to sit around twiddling the thumbs -apologies aside, I am not sure I will make it here frequently. My experience appears to be magically bad luck, as those around us at the same time as my visits do not get the same delays of which I have...
