If I could give Chaupain Bakery 10 stars I would. I come here very frequently for personal, family (who prefers French cuisine), and work catering orders mainly because the service here is top class.
Service: Janelle (the manager) whether over the phone or in person is absolutely sweet, kind, thoughtful, goes above and beyond to accommodate special requests when it comes to our large catering orders, and treats me like family everytime. Being so popular, Chaupain gets extremely busy (line out the door) especially on the weekends! But the entire staff from the back of the house chefs to the front servers and cashiers works consistently hard, diligently, efficiently as a team. Everyone is patient, positive, and willing to help from questions to suggestions and in any way that they can. Huge shoutout and thank you to the management team like Janelle, Taylor, Cas, Juan, Carlos, Ignacio, Austin, Avery, Karina, Eunice, Marta (who helped me with yet another catering order) but to the entire staff. They are fun to be around and love their vibe!
Food: The pastries are consistently beautiful, buttery, not overly sweet, and large portions! We enjoy all the different flavors like the almond chocolate custard, berry bateau, pistachio custard danish, but even the plain crossaint is just heavenly. So far I have ordered for my family and work events: the Chaupain omelette, Sam's breakfast sandwich, breakfast burrito, avocado toast, sunrise croissant, Spinach cheese and Bacon-Leek-Mushroom quiche, Chaupain Burger (my favorite item that may not be on the current menu) and only good reviews for all of them! The fruit tarts are beautiful and delish as well as their special yogurt that comes in all these flavors! On Sundays, they also have a stand at the Farmer's Market across the street and it's always nice to chat with the team there as well.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreFound this little bakery on Google and so happy we did. It is a tiny location but plenty of seating outside. It's very cute and the employees were nice. As it was our first time there Janelle was incredibly helpful. She answered all our questions and was just super friendly and really helpful with suggestions.
Price wise I think they are in line with other bakeries. I don't like paying $5-8 for a single bakery item, especially because often they are not really that good. The pastries here were in the $5-6 range and worth every penny.
We were looking for a dessert to take to lunch at a friend's and this wasn't what we were looking for originally but oh my God I am so glad we took the plunge. We ended up getting six items to take to share for four people and there was way more than enough. We got the fruit tart (perfect texture and so so so good), a cinnamon roll cup (amazing flavor, and melt in your mouth), chocolate ganache pastry (they do not skimp on the chocolate ganache and the pastry was perfectly baked), strawberry envelope (perfect pastry again, strawberries and lots of swiss cream, you don't want to stop eating it), brownie (a denser brownie and not overly sweet), and the mille feuille (this is the one that will get you in trouble! It is amazing!!! Layers of puff pastry and swiss cream, I went back later and they were sold out. I was so sad.).
We went back later in the afternoon to get some more treats to take home and sadly they were sold out of most of their pastries. It is definitely worth the 140 mile round trip that I will be taking to get some more of their goodies.
Although we didn't order any food, we saw a lot of plates going out and everything looked...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI initially found this bakery at the Dana Point Farmers Market on Saturday & 2 days ago, at 8am or so, decided to take my friend, visiting from out-of-state, who LOVES French food/bakeries, told her we HAD to go that morning to try their morning pastries!
Chaupain DID NOT DISAPPOINT! They exceeded ALL expectations! Silvie, the manager, Cindy & Dawn Are/were the BEST in giving us what we wanted:
the Spinach Quiche, warmed to perfection - worth the wait to taste & eat!
the Chocolate Croissant - the BEST I've ever had: flaky pastry, just right!
My friend:
a baked croissant filled with custard & fruit (berries & raspberries)
a small decaf cappuccino
My friend, who has lived in France said, 'Yes! Perfection!' She felt/thought Chaupain Bakery 'the best of the best' in the area!
And, Silvie, the manager gave a complimentary light Honey glazed Danish, with their famous Lemon Kefir spread & Wow! It was delicious!
I plan on taking us back before my friend leaves this area to try their breakfast and/lunch dishes!
They are ALL ...nothing but the BEST!š
I highly recommend Chaupin Bakery in San Clemente & Laguna Hills for a breakfast, lunch entree, snacks, drinks --
Whatever YOU DESIRE, THEY HAVE...
