Mongkut Thai — Restaurant in San Clemente

This is one of my favorite places to have Thai food in Orange County. Not only has one of the most authentic Asian dishes , but one of the best places to dine in, or to carry out. For years I have come and go, as I moved from San Clemente, but whenever I visit, this is the perfect spot to visit. They have a wide range of delicious dishes, made with passion and care. In this case I order a couple of appetizers, a rice dish, and three more entrees, and all of them were delicious, also their Thai iced tea, is to die for If you’re ever down in San Clemente California and looking for an authentic Thai restaurant don’t hesitate to visit this jewel on the coast. It’s a wonderful spot, you can check the beach after a great lunch here. You will not regret your visit. Until then I hope to return soon to enjoy my favorite place. Restaurant is very small inside, with boxy interior. We called ahead to place our simple order of three items. When we arrived 20 minutes later, we had to wait for another 15 minutes at least because the bag placed in our hands had only 1 of the 3 things we ordered. The place was only half full. Spring rolls are not as described on the menu. They are ground pork and chopped shrimp wrapped in a loose tortilla that instantly falls apart in your hands. Also, cool-room temperature. Pad thai was decent, but also cool. Tom Kha Pak was nothing like it was described on the menu, missing carrots and sow peas. The people running the restaurant were very pleasant, but it was overshadowed by the amount of time it took to get the food and the quality....

Just all-around great food and very good service. I live here in town and will make this my official Thai restaurant of choice. My wife liked her food as well however she could do without the peanut sauce or less of it. I think the peanut souce is great!

Now we are back and I ordered # 55 duck does not come with rice, for a buck more I got steamed rice but I wanted fried and I would have had to order a full plate of fried rice for 8 bucks. Cant owners get a little customer friendly on small details. I refuse to pay 8 bucjs...
