Free Bird Boutique — Local services in San Clemente

Went shopping here with my 96-year-old mom, who found some sandals she liked but they didn’t have her size. The associate kindly offered to order them with free shipping (she lives in Riverside). She placed the order and received a receipt showing it went through with an authorization number.

A couple of hours later, we got a call saying the order didn’t go through. Confused, I ended up using my own card to reorder them—but oddly, the price had now increased by $18, plus there was suddenly a shipping fee. They claimed shipping wasn’t free after all. We went ahead and ordered them again.

The next day, we discovered her original order had gone through and she had been charged. Turns out, we could have saved $10 by just ordering from the website ourselves in the first place! I called the store, and the manager said she’d call me right back—never did. So I went back in (I was the only customer there) and explained everything.

When I asked why they claimed her order hadn’t gone through, the manager said she didn’t know—but also insisted the charge had been refunded (it had not). I asked for a refund of my charge too, so we could simply order online and save money, but she refused. She only offered to refund the shipping fee if we picked the shoes up in-store—which obviously doesn’t help since my mom lives in Riverside.

When I asked why it’s cheaper to order from the website, she claimed they charge more in-store for shipping on shoes and hats because they “weigh more.” Honestly, that explanation made no sense—these sandals weighed less than jeans.

This store is absolutely wonderful! High quality, soft fabrics, unique and easy-to-match colors. The owner is really nice and she sources her pieces from abroad. I loved shopping with her, she had some excellent styling ideas and it was a joy to meet her. This is a wonderful small business and her prices are great. I am so happy I discovered this store, it’s such a beautiful store with amazing pieces and the staff is so helpful and friendly! Amanda is who helped me and she is wonderful so kind and really knowledgeable about the fits and styles!
