Went here for the first time on Saturday afternoon to have a little dare night for an early dinner. Very nice place and relaxed atmosphere. You can tell as you enter and see the menu that its a trendy venue. 10 dollars for a pretzel with queso and mustard. Id pay 7, max. Its a tasty pretzel, but a hard sell a second time at 10. Im knit picking on this one thing because its a simple dish made "fancy" with the addition of paper thin apple slices. A nice touch, but not necessary. Skip the pretzel, head straight for a burger. The burgers are cooked perfectly! Super tasty and the veggies are fresh tasting and have beautiful color. I ended up having the basic burger and I WISHED it was just that. BHT puts a sauce with onions on it, or I was told it might have onions in it. I asked for no onions and no fault of the waitress she did not hear me. I should have restated that I can not eat onions because of a food sensitivity. I received the burger with onions and picked them off deciding to try to eat the burger instead of sending it back. I got one bite in before having to sending it back to be remade. The staff was very accommodating and gladly remade it for me. Bonus points there, but I was a little upset that anyone would come around and "encourage" me to speak up about the allergy. Its not an allergy, but because people don't think a sensitivity is necessary for precaution we typically just call it an allergy so people pay attention when we say "no onions". Other than that one minor hiccup I would recommend this Tavern. And let me make it clear, the waitress who did not hear me initially say no onions was very polite and meant no harm. She was super friendly and showed concern. For that reason alone I will come back.
We have one item on the wish list for this place. A dog friendly patio. We will definitely be coming here on the weekday to check out their dinner scene on the weekday and...
Read moreCame to Bay Hill Tavern for the first time tonight to watch the UFC fights with my service dog and my brother — and I will NEVER be returning.
My brother got there before me and grabbed a table. I walked in shortly after and was immediately met with one of the rudest, most unpleasant people I’ve ever encountered in the service industry — a blonde woman who appeared to be the manager (pen in her ponytail, wearing a Nike jacket).
No greeting. No kindness. She just stared at my dog and snapped, “Is that a service dog?” I said yes and explained I was meeting someone. Her response? “Well, I don’t know who you’re meeting.” Didn’t offer to help, didn’t ask who I was looking for, nothing — just attitude. I spotted my brother and walked to him, and she said nothing else. Just stood there with a nasty look on her face.
But it didn’t end there.
All night long, she sat or stood near the computer in the corner just staring at me. Whispering to servers, glaring like I didn’t belong there — made me feel insanely uncomfortable. I’ve never been treated like that at any bar or restaurant, and I’ve worked in the industry for over 10 years in my past.
At one point, my service dog gently put her paw on my leg because she was thirsty. The manager marched over and coldly said, “Keep the service dog on the ground.” No humanity. No decency. Just pure snobbery.
The only good part of the night was the kind server who brought my dog some water. Every other staff member was great — but this woman is a toxic presence and a horrible reflection of the establishment.
I don’t know how someone like her ends up in a management role, but if ownership actually cares about their business and reputation, they should seriously reconsider who they’re letting represent their bar.
I’ll be telling everyone I know to avoid this place — and it’s 100%...
Read moreWent here yesterday with my wife and the doggies. It was a great experience from the moment we parked; which we will get into in a second. The staff and food was amazing. First we parked well that really was the only downside is that there was no parking but to be honest, it’s not their fault it’s San Diego there’s barley parking here anyway. After we parked walked up to get seated and our host was extremely eager to have us come in and get us settled. Once we walked in everyone was super friendly to us and our little doggies. We sat down and pretty much ordered right away, we sat on the back porch with heat warmers it was a little brisk not bad though. Had a great selection of food, beer, and cocktails I was impressed. I loved the music nice 70s and 80s tunes relaxing atmosphere you can even bring the kiddos it that nice. The staff loved saying hi to our doggies and with that we didn’t have a problem with our three different servers that we had all of them were so attentive and kind and simply nice. Everyone looked pleased to be working. Our food was awesome, my wife got a burger that I can’t recall off the top of my head, while I had the bacon, chicken, and ranch pizza highly recommend. Overall I’d go back to this establishment again it was a great experience once again the staff was awesome the food awesome! Outside of parking (which you get over it) I’d...
