California Bean — Restaurant in San Diego

California Bean 🫘 has always been a special place for my wife and me. It’s her favorite spot, and she won’t go anywhere else. At first, it was a bit of a hassle because it’s about 5 miles away from our Mission Valley home, and there were 15 coffee shops closer that were much easier to get to. But then, in August, my wife and I had our first child. As the great husband I am, I decided to go solo and get her order for the 3-5 weeks she was recovering from labor. That’s when I realized why she loves this place so much. The people working here are passionate about what they do and genuinely care about their customers. My daily commute to California Bean became something I looked forward to, even though I don’t drink coffee. If I could have the last day of my life any way I wanted it - it would start with the smiles from this place - followed by a beverage, of any kind, made by the same people, whose ear to ear curvature has been the sunlight in my world - since the first time I met them. If you want to start your day differently, and meet the same individuals who will surely be welcoming you home to Heaven some day - go get your Java, Joe, Sumatra Get Down from this place. You don't drink Coffee or Tea you say? Then go get a ice cold water and a dog biscuit for Capt. Fuzzy Buns, your Shitzbradoodle. Best bottled water and 🐕 bizcuit this side the Mississippi. Was staying down the street at the La Quinta and walked here for some (good) coffee with our pups. It is an adorable little kiosk that was very busy! There is no seating so you grab and go but they offer fresh baked bakery items - we had the zucchini nut bread which was divine. Ordered a Mexican Mocha and a Caramel Latte. Both were excellent. The gal making the coffee was super friendly and made our drinks to perfection. Despite the crowd she was un-phased in there by herself and given her positive attitude nobody was going crazy waiting for their coffee.

I love coffee, great coffee and this place served it up to us.

PS - they had a doggy water bowl out which gave them extra...
