So this was our first time to Cotija's. I noticed the place a few months back and had really been wanting to give them a shot.
Upon entering I noted they had an expansive menu. Pretty much something for everyone. They have a nice breakfast selection (served until 11:00 am), all the typical combination plates, burritos, fries, etc.. We settled on two Enchilada combinations and split some fries.
There's a few things I use to guage a taco shop. How is the rice, dry and flavorless or moist and flavorful? How are the beans bland? Oily? Dry? How is their salsa, tomato sauce or something approaching authentic with a nice kick?
The rice was not dry and had a great flavor, the beans were not dry, slightly oily (but totally fine) and the salsa was unique (in a good way) and tasted good but wasn't terribly spicy.
Now for the one gripe. The prices here were really high. The combinations were the same price you'd pay at a sit down Mexican restaurant, the fries were the same price as the entree, all together about $40 including 1 Jamaica. I'd say nearly $10 more than other similar places I've been to.
It was good and based on the food I'd definitely eat there again but the prices would likely make me...
Read moreIf I could give no stars I would. Ordered food over the phone. Was told that because it was over a certain $$ I needed to give my credit card number. As I gave it to the counter person she began repeating it out loud . I asked her if she could not say it so loud. She replied that she was using her normal tone of voice- I explained that I didn’t want her to read my card number out loud. So I finished giving he the info and she proceeded to read it out loud again including the expiration date. She had it wrong so I corrected her at which time she told me “that’s what I said”. When I got there they did indeed still have the number wrong and the number, etc was on a note sitting on the counter. AND they did not make my order until they had done everyone else’s. I had to wait 20 min for a take out making me late. I asked to speak to the manager about credit card security when I was told manager wasn’t there, no one has their number or knows when they will be in. The moral is- the food is good but don’t have any problems and, for heaven’s sake, don’t ask for...
Read moreFirst thing first... I wish there was an option for zero stars. I ordered breakfast burritos yesterday for my family over the phone. I made a mistake and realized my dad is allergic to sour cream, so I called back and requested one burrito without sour cream. The female employee who was “helping” me over the phone was completely rude and unprofessional about my request for no sour cream on one burrito. When I show up to pick up the burritos she was slamming things around and acting completely out of control and rude. I had mentioned to her I did not appreciate her attitude and she continued to argue with me. I am not only writing this about my concern on the lack of customer service this individual provided me but my dad also has been throwing up all night long due to food poisoning. I should’ve stuck with my gut feeling and not picked up the burritos when the female employee treated me so rude over the phone. I am 💯 certain they did something to our food. If you care about self worth and your health I’d advise you not to eat at...
