Review applies to coffee and ice cream only, separate occasions. Had “The Champ” latte, their cinnamon/honey latte, which was wonderfully balanced and even better than expected. Not sure if they do latte art in drinks that are not to-go or if they even offer sit-down coffees, but the taste and texture of the latte was a strong 9/10. The ice cream is also delicious, albeit nearly the same price as a good gelato shop around here ($8/two scoops is a bit steep for ice cream). All the flavors I’ve had were great. The atmosphere is rather lacking - very limited seating and sort of ramshackle in its decor and layout. Not really on par with the high-quality third wave coffee they’re serving. Service was, while friendly, surprisingly slow for coffee. There was only one person getting one drink in front of me and I still waited nearly 10 mins for the latte. Like many businesses here, the staff assumes zero sense of urgency, even in the face of long lines. If you can catch it with a zero or 1-2 person line and plan to take your items to-go, the drinks are fantastic and the ice creams are excellent as well. Just don’t expect to enjoy a posh, relaxing and modern coffee shop ambiance along with it.

This is a very trendy coffee shop in North Park. My son comes here for coffee at least once a week. So when we came to visit him, he natural brought us here for coffee and breakfast. The varieties of coffees are very good here. People like coffees would definitely love them. I am not much of a coffee drinker but I still like their roasted coffee aroma smell. The pastries are also amazing. There is always a long line here for the pastries and coffees. We ordered a couple of big breakfasts here to dine in. My wife got an egg Benedict and mine was an ABC omelette. We were a bit disappointed in the food. They were not very appetizing. The omelette was over cooked so the eggs and cheeses were a bit hard to chew. I guess we should stick with their coffee and pastries in the future. Parking here is very troublesome. Had to park a few blocks away from the restaurant.

I had to stop eating and drinking my coffee to make this review. In an era where we all know how horrible plastic pollution is, I’m surprised by how many coffee shops still use so much plastic. Dark horse is doing it right with these compostable containers, even the cream cheese has its own little container and wooden spoon! I have at least 4 coffee shops that are closer to my house, but I’ll be coming here from now.

Negative energy every time I’ve been in here. I’ve taking my dog in a few times . Also there’s photos of the dogs on the small plexiglass by the espresso machines. South Park dogs . Well interesting how Service animals are allowed in public places ADA (federal law) + California Civil Code § 54.1 No one should have to repeat two times that they do not have “indoor dining” I’ve been here a few times I have seen dogs inside the store and they have been accommodated. There’s even a clip inside on the wall to clip your dog leash. I’ve never seen this girl working here before. It’s not even the best coffee shop when it comes to coffee or drinks you would think the girl would know the laws of having a service animal. I wasn’t asked if she was a service animal it clearly states on her vest working dog. She’s not a pet. After this I will probably never go back to this place again. I asked her “you are asking me to leave?” And she said yes there’s no “indoor dining.” I said even if she is a service animal and she said yes. It’s a new thing with the food administration. I said I was not aware the law had changed. Get better trained employees on the laws of service animals when I have seen multiple dogs inside this establishment. Congratulations DARK HORSE CANT WAIT to have this be a great reason why I try other coffee shops. Good story too. Thanks guys good...

We came here for coffee last Sunday. I asked for a drip coffee and the girl helping us at the counter said they were out. Interesting since it's a coffee spot. They still had a couple hours before they closed so that seemed odd to me. I asked if the chai latte was spicy and she said she's never had it. Blank stare. Ok cool. I asked for a latte with oat milk. My partner ordered. We asked for two bagels with vegan cream cheese. We ended up with dairy cream cheese, they ran out of the other, so we end up eating dry $4 or $5 bagels that were a bit stale. We discussed how this place seemed like a mess. I turn around and the counter girl was on her phone leaning against the table. Let's just say I would be pissed off if I was her co-worker or employer. The laziness and lack of care was over the top. I've been in the hospitality industry for over 20 years and certainly wouldn't put up with that. Decent coffee but I will not...
