I tried Dumpings N More last night with my husband and baby, the whole experience was amazing. I drove by this place so many times but I always thought it was an American Chinese food place, because it was not at convoy and their name highlights dumplings. But I was totally wrong, their dumplings, wonton and XiaoLongBao probably are the most authentic and delicious in San Diego! I am very honest to say that, and they are ten times better than Din Tai Fung. Also they look amazing as well, I had the colorful dumplings with various flavors, each one is fully stuffed, the skin is thin but hold the stuffer very nicely. The colors of the dumplings are made from real food, all hand made, healthy and tasty. Xiao Long Bao totally passed my expectations, the juice inside is made of real pork jelly, so it’s not only juicy but also has that kind of sticky and flavorful taste, it is amazing. The chicken wings make my husband so satisfied, it’s very crunchy outside and juicy and tender inside, it is also very flavorful, my husband said it was even better than his fav chicken wings spot Bonchon. The spicy wonton is great as well, the sauce they used makes me think of Malatang’s sauce, I can literally dip everything in it, it is made from both sesame and peanut butter, that’s why it is very flavorful and delicious. The dessert buns are cute and yummy as well, the lava stuffer tastes so satisfying and they look very nice when you opened it. We also had a cumin lamb, but we are too full to eat a lot of that, I just had a bite, the cumin flavor is strong and there are tons of lamb inside, with the price you paid, it is very worthy. I have to come back here, this restaurant becomes top 3 Chinese restaurant in my opinion. I want to try their giant steamed bun and Tan Tan noodles the next time. Plus their service is super friendly, and the restaurant itself is clean and has welcomed atmosphere. I highly...
Read moreCan't rave enough about this place!! Who doesn't want to see their food prepared? I am not big on Chinese food because we Americans really know how to screw it up. But left to those with rich history in cuisine it is stellar. The name dumplings and more couldn't sound more American but the "more" let's you know that there's an inside joke telling you to hold on to your seat.
The soups have that same satisfying depth that your Grandma understands and not only are the noodles just as fresh tasting as the dumplings but the size of the bowls are awe inspiring. I ordered the shrimp and preserved cabbage that gave me a chicken noodle soup buzz with the flavor of seafood and the Braised Pork Soup came as Braised Beef Soup with an apology from the chef (not sure what that was about), but I didn't miss it. It tasted similar to an au jus with plenty of jus. The Dim Sum combo was like a steamed basket of fireworks, delectable and toothy. I almost didn't get a pic of them because they went so fast. I also ordered the picked radish and they were a win with as simple crunchy dish. Kinda like a box of popcorn at a movie but sweet. The staff was friendly and fast as well. The only side eye was the bathroom. It could use some TLC, especially the door which you are forced to touch going in and out. Not too appetizing.
The look of the restaurant is quaint and unassuming. They really don't need to decorate to tempt you to try the dumplings once you see them being made. This is a must try for your family and anyone you have visiting from out of town. It does not disappoint and would for sure impress even the most bourgeoisie of foodies. That is if they truly...
Read moreDidn’t realize there was no dine-in option. Oh well, it’s understandable in light of the pandemic. Hopefully they recover enough to get back to being able to enjoy their food sitting inside. (We took our buns over to nearby Balboa Park and enjoyed them!) Went there with my Gdaughter after her school in search of a yummy steamed bao bun. Sadly, they didn’t have the regular size, nor did they have the BBQ pork. The only size offered was the giant bun. We would have preferred being able to buy several different kinds of a regular size. But we got the pork and the beef n green onion. My Gdaughter really liked her pork bun. I thought the beef n green onion was ok. The bun wasn’t as soft n fluffy w/ a little gumminess to it, which is how I like it. The filling could use a little more seasoning to it as well. We also got some soup dumplings. They were pretty good. They could use a little bigger size sauce cups for better dipping. The juice n filling needed more flavor so I needed to use the dips. Especially the hot chile sauce for some kick. Well, I gotta say my Gdaughter loved her lychee slush drink with boba! So that’s...
