Not vegetarian friendly & overpriced for unflattering vegetarian option. I ordered a caponata and a linguine with pesto sauce. Caponata was flavorful. Vegetarian options = regular dishes without the meat & with no price adjustment. Street parking was hard to get, I ended up paying for my parking. The staff recommended me to get linguine with pesto with shrimp but without the shrimp, and I paid the original price of $22.95 for this dish. I thought this was overpriced for mediocre pasta with pesto sauce. I noticed a lot of the supposed homemade pasta was in broken pieces, most noodle "pieces" were about 2-4" long. For a $23 plate, I was expecting my linguine to be long and not broken. The reasoning the staff gave was because the kitchen twisted the noodles. If this was the quality of the twisting, my feedback was either the kitchen wasn't doing it right or if they can't do it right, then don't twist it. Service was great though. The staff was attentive and friendly.

The owner of this restaurant was involved in an incident where he and the owner of the nutrients store next to this store assaulted a man who was recording on camera and they showed their true colors by calling the cops and claiming the guy recording attacked them - when they were the ones who actually went up to the guy recording, they approached him and they tried to take away his camera... They showed that they are willing to lie even when it is recorded on video.... DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN and be sure to record every interaction because his willingness to lie when recording shows what he is willing to do with no accountability. FYI... To the owner... Not only is it perfectly legal to record in public (everything your eyes can see, including by into windows!) but YOU YOURSELF has a camera outside ... You LEGALLY cannot record someone and then tell someone else that YOU YOURSELF ARE RECORDING that they cannot record back!

We walked in at just the right time, between the different dinner rushes. Friendly greeting and a friendly waiter and I assume manager/owner. The food we decided(and ate too quickly to have any pictures for) was a salad for the lady, and the pork with balsamic reduction for myself. The pork was cooked perfectly. I lean more towards the rare side of meats when ordering non burgers, and this pork was somewhere in my top 5 dishes for pork. If that wasn’t enough, the peppers were cooked just the right amount and an airy mashed potatoes were the perfect compliment. The selection of wines was a perfect amount, not a mess of wines, but still with enough options for the foods. The beer selection felt more authentic to an Italian cuisine restaurant, with the Peroni pictured. Even if we didn’t get lucky enough to walk in with a 30 second wait, I would still go back and wait the 25+ minutes when we visit again.

My family and I stopped by at this place a couple of days ago from visiting the San Diego Zoo. My son and I are visiting my sister and her family and we had just spent the day at the zoo. We wanted to eat out of the park and my sister did a search on yelp and found this place.

We ordered the following dishes: Burrata Fiore di Parma, Ravioli in Rosa, Tagliatelle alla Bolognese, Linguine Pesto e Gamberi. The Burrata appetizer was on point. I'm not a cheese lover, but the cheese in the appetizer was not sharp or strong in taste. It had a smooth texture. Even my sister, brother-in-law, and nephew who are all cheese lovers, enjoyed this dish. The cheese, Balsamic glace, cheese, and prosciutti balanced the bitter arugula taste that arugula naturally has.

In my personal opinion, the pesto dish had a tad bit more Olive Oil than what I would prefer but the pesto was on point. Overall, none of us were disappointed. My nine-year-old son is picky about eating any pasta dish and he loved the Bolognese dish. I liked that the ragu sauce on the Bolognese dish because it was not acidic. It had the right balance of red sauce with meat. I also sampled the Ravioli dish and the sauce was creamy and delicious.

Our server was attentive. My eleven-year-old nephew is also a picky eater and our server came up with several options of what they could prepare for him. We felt welcomed and were able to enjoy our meal without feeling pressured to leave. All of us were happy that my sister found this place after we spent the day at the zoo. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is visiting from out of town and wants to enjoy a warm, delicious...

My friend and I were craving Italian food and actually tried to go to Esca blu, which is temporarily closed. We found this place on the same street and it was truly a blessing in disguise. This was some of the most delicious Italian food I've tried here in San Diego (no exaggeration)!! Making a reservation is super quick via yelp. We were seated right away. The restaurant itself is small making the overall ambiance intimate and cozy. There is also a small outdoor seating area. The servers were all so sweet and warm. We came on a Wednesday and it's 30% off a bottle of wine so we definitely had to indulge! I definitely recommend this place and I will be back in the future. Food review: The complimentary bread was so soft and delicious. We ordered 2 baskets. Haha Primitiva wine: (5/5) This was recommended by our server and we were not disappointed. This was so delicious. We finished the entire bottle so fast. Burrata fiore di Parma: (5/5) The perfect blend of flavors. The cheese melted in your mouth and the prosciutto was delicious. I topped the cheese, prosciutto, and arugula on a slice of the complimentary bread. Yum! Lasagna: (5/5) They make their own lasagna in house. The sauce is amazing. This is some damn good food. It's interesting there were little carrots inside (I believe) which I've never had before but I didn't mind it. My plate was clean at the end of dinner. Tiramisu (5/5): (no pic because we devoured it) This is a well balanced dessert. It didn't have a strong coffee flavor like some others I've tried. It was light and super flavorful. We asked for some chocolate drizzle on top and it...

BLUF - An intimate, delightful restaurant with it's own style and unquestionably high quality food. Absolutely worth a visit.

Service - 5/5 Educated on the menu, delighted to educate guests on the menu, and absolutely happy to have you in their restaurant. The service was excellent, on time and on purpose, but not fussy or overbearing. You got the feeling from the entire staff that they were opening their dining room to you and you were an honored guest.

Personality - 5/5 This is how you differentiate yourself from the crowd. Create a stylish, unpretentious, intimate location that exudes comfort, and invite people in. This place is proud of its existence, and even prouder to offer you an opportunity to experience it.

Quality - 5/5 You can tell the food here is prepared traditionally, I swear there were only 5-6 ingredients per dish (except the lasagna of course). Everything we tried was prepared perfectly and simply, which made the fresh and herbaceous flavors shine through. This place sets the standard for traditional (from Italy) Italian food. Put everything else you have experienced out of your mind, this will be come the gold standard for all future comparisons. Not to be overlooked, their placard from the U.S. Italian Chamber of Commerce certifying them as having authentic Italian cuisine is just one more thing confirming that this place isn't a fluke, it is for real.

Recommendation - 5/5 I can't recommend this place any higher. It is worth the drive, worth the wait, worth the cost, an absolutely subtle and...
