Yes — the food was tasty. But that’s the only thing this place has going for it. Everything else was an absolute disaster, and frankly, I left feeling taken advantage of.
From the moment we walked in on our first visit, the service was appalling. The server greeted us like we were an inconvenience, plopped us down, then vanished — no water (despite the blazing heat), no menus, nothing until we had to ask. When water did arrive, it came in flimsy plastic cups that belong in a cheap fast-food joint, not a sit-down restaurant. Food came out with no serving utensils, forcing us to scoop from large shared bowls with our own eating cutlery. And all the while, the server was glued to her earpiece instead of actually doing her job. We were the only customers there — there was zero excuse for this level of neglect.
To top it off, I later discovered a gratuity had been sneakily added to our bill without a single word about it. No mention during the meal, no disclosure at payment — nothing.
On my second visit, I made the mistake of giving them another chance. The new server was miles better — but guess what? Same shady tipping trick. Gratuity quietly added again, never mentioned, and she let me add another tip on top. Only after checking my receipt at home did I realize I’d tipped twice. Whether that’s deliberate or just incompetence, it’s unacceptable — and it feels like a scam.
This place has zero transparency, zero respect for customers, and zero service etiquette. You can serve the best food in the world, but if your business practices are this underhanded, you don’t deserve repeat customers.
Tourists, stay away. Locals, you’ve...
Read moreFood isn’t bad at all, same pricing as most other Indian restaurants. The samosas were really great. Seating is a little so, so because couriers picking up food wait right in the middle of the store, there’s not much separation between where they wait and where guests who want to dine in wait in line too. Now for a bit of advice which isn’t a reflection of the good food. If you spill something on someone who comes to buy food at your place, apologies are the minimum and it was kind of you to offer that. But when mistakes like that happen, it’s actually an opportunity for you to go above and beyond. No one even offered some compensatory food or anything. The guest has to go and throw their clothes in the washing when all they came in for was to get food but now there’s the additional trouble of having to wash the clothing etc, walking through town with food stains on their clothes, and you couldn’t even offer anything to make up for that trouble? Where’s the realization and understanding? If this happens in the future, take a hint and make sure to offer the customer some compensation. You’ll actually end up coming across as proper pros at service. My 3 stars are a reflection of my experience at this place and frankly, it's quite generous, it should have been 2, if that. The food I'd rank at 4 stars so all in, it results in the middle with 3 for...
Read moreI usually go to Tandoori Hut, on 5th Ave, and it is become so EXPENSIVE. The food is generally average to good, the service is not so. They charge for EVERY little thing, when they didn't charge for it before and you have to wrestle to get them to give you water, or even ice with your water or drink. Very CHEAP after spending $22 a meal! I went there on 12-7-23, and the girl working there, with glasses, is INCONSISTENT with her service and charges, knowing I'm a REGULAR there. I ordered the PARATHA ALOO and received yogurt sauce with it. I ordered a second one and She say "I give to you first time free because you're a regular, but after that, we charge $1 for yogurt sauce." I checked with the older man there, he said "We don't charge for yogurt sauce with Paratha." Then, the Chapati is paper thin, they are like crackers. No chewy substantial Chapati. I told the girl that, she just didn't care, said that's the way it is. I told her "no, I have had it different elsewhere. Thicker, more substantial, chewy." She disagree. They're CHEAP & CHEATS. They overcharge, don't tell you how it is from the get go. Then she seem to want to cheat you and charge for things they shouldn't charge for, PLUS, DON'T WANT to make you HAPPY as a Customer. Also, I don't doubt there are Roaches there, because I get diarrhea episodes OFTEN after Everytime...
