I was really disappointed. I love Mediterranean food and have been waiting to try this place. We ordered the chicken kabob plate and the cheese flatbread. The cheese flatbread was actually quite good, however would have been even better has the flatbread been left in for another minute or so to have the top a bit more caramelized. I know this because we put it in the air fryer a bit longer when we got home.
The chicken kabob plate was highly disappointing. The only saving grace was the garlic sauce, which was very good. The chicken was left on the grill too long and burnt. Grill marks are good, but when it’s tough to eat chicken because all that you taste is burnt chicken, not a good look. The rice was not the traditional basmati or jasmine, but tasted like long grain cooked in chicken flavoring. It was good, but not traditional. The veggies were cooked well, but there weren’t many of them and the onions were still in their skin. I could have gone to the grocery store if I wanted to peel onions.
The pita tasted more like tortillas than pita bread. The hummus was decent, but nothing to write home about. The tabouli wasn’t my favorite. My friend liked it, so I’ll call it a wash.
It was a decent price for the amount of food. Though, I probably won’t return unless there is a change in ingredients (rice) and more attention paid to cooking. Super...
Read moreShawarma mix/sausage and Baba ganoush were good. The chicken (dry) and Tabbouleh weren't. Falafel wrap was ok. Rice was good.
One downside to the open side of the building is that everything is effectively outside, which means constantly swating away flies while eating.
Great staff/ service.
Good size portions. I feel like a lot of places are getting skimpier (shrinkflation). Not this place. The servings here are not small.
Also, there is a L bracket at the foot of one of the restroom doors. It's not quite one of those things that you can step on to open the door without using your hands, (a sanitary feature). That's cuz there's nothing on the bracket that provides traction. Maybe that part was there before, but it fell off.
So now, it's just some random L bracket that's there to stab you in the foot, if you're not careful. (Yes, it's me. I stabbed myself in the foot on...
Read moreAs an avid chicken shawarma enthusiast, I've had the pleasure of sampling this dish all across the United States. I can confidently say that the shawarma at this establishment is, without a doubt, the finest I've tasted in the country. With experience savoring authentic Middle Eastern shawarma, I can attest to the fact that this restaurant's offering is on par with, if not superior to, those found in the region itself.
What sets this shawarma apart is the use of traditional Sajj bread, as opposed to the more common flour tortillas often found elsewhere. This authentic touch truly elevates the dish. For the most genuine experience, I recommend ordering it with garlic paste (toum) and pickles only, as this is the original way the dish is served in the Middle East.
If you're in San Diego and searching for the ultimate shawarma experience, look no further—this is the...
