It's really kind of cool to stumble on to or in to a place and have it immediately feel like home and that you belong. Today's experience I suspect was brought about while sitting at the breakfast counter and everyone was talking to each other and the staff. Ten minutes into my parking it on a chair I was pulled in and stayed there until I chose to leave. I'm sitting there looking to my left and right seeing these "things" that looked a lot like awesome omlets but for the life of me couldn't find them on the menu. So I did what any red blooded American male would do and I asked, what turned out to be the owner "are those omlet's? And why don't I see them on the menu?" Very graciously had pulled my open menu away from me, closed it, and pointed out that they were all on THE COVER. Eating alone, I still had a marvelous experience and will be planning on going back during my next visit. I get the strong feeling that, while it is very close to Little Italy it has a very strong Cuban bent to it....I suspect it was the great music that was playing while I was there! Oh ...the restrooms are not that great but I didn't take any food into them either.

The service here is exceptional. I came here on a Saturday morning during a time when they had a march a couple blocks away downtown, so it was pretty busy. Even though they were packed, I found a lone stool at the breakfast bar and sat down. The people behind the bar smiled at me frequently and showed that they cared even though it was so busy. I ended up ordering the corned beef breakfast which includes a three-person helping of hash browns & fresh corned beef hash with a single size portion of eggs. It comes with your preference of toast, biscuit, or English muffin. Their bread selection was very original as well, not your usual white versus wheat selection. The meal was more than I could finish, I probably only finished about a quarter of it. I know that their biscuits were made in house because it had some fresh flour dusted at the bottom of it. Overall very satisfying and filling meal. They're very quick to serve you coffee and water right when you sit down. I wouldn't mind stopping here again as it's so close to the Little Italy / County Center train stop if there weren't so many breakfast places in San Diego to try.

We had planned to go to morning Glory for breakfast but then we ended up coming here instead because the wait was so long and I'm really glad that we did. The outside booths are actually really comfortable which surprised me cuz you're just wood but they were very comfortable. And nice and shady. The weight was super short. They told us it was going to be 40 minutes and it was actually only about maybe 10? Our server was really great. I had the eggs benedict with lobster and it was actually pretty good. They do not skimp on the lobster! I also had hash browns with it and they were so good and crispy. There was no salt on them but fortunately there's salt and pepper on the table. I would definitely come back here again to eat. It's maybe a block at the most from the farmers market so it's perfect to go on a Saturday morning and then go browse the Farmers market after you're done. There is a parking lot right next to it. It's run by Ace and so yes it's expensive. But trying to find parking down here after 8:00 is pretty much impossible unless you're willing to drive around forever.

I hate leaving reviews like this but it must be done. Came here with my father early one morning and waited about 15 min for a table which is no problem. Small place, so it’s understandable, plus we wanted a table not a bar seat. Bar seat are much quicker. The hostess was a little short girl with a bob haircut and she was amazing. She had a smile on her face and was acting as a Hostess, busser, and managed to create two tables out of thin air outside when the line got extremely long. Superwoman. Our waitress (wearing a fedora like hat) However had a pretty rotten attitude which started when we asked for a different drink when we realized the orange juice tasted like...well a freshly painted room. She defensively said “well, I just saw them make it in the back, sooo...”. For the rest of the meal she was quite passive and whenever she picked something up or dropped something off at our table, she said absolutely nothing. She was also very slow at rotating tables. I felt bad waiting so long for my bill when 6 groups of people were waiting outside for a table. We were sitting there for a good 10 min waiting for a check. And she never offered a to-go box, I had to ask for one. I don’t know if it’s all they had but I received a little Chinese-like fold box for a pancake. I had to fold the pancake over twice to get it to fit in the box. The food wasn’t bad but wasn’t good either. Same eggs your would get at any common breakfast diner. Bacon was really good and thick. Buttermilk pancakes where also just okay , and contained cinnamon, which I wasn’t expecting. My father ordered the bagel sandwhich with scrambled eggs inside and he received over easy. It’s one of the only breakfast places in the area so it’s still packed but our experience made us quite uncomfortable and I wouldn’t recommend this...

It's a nice little spot, small and crowded, but has character. We were excited for breakfast, unfortunately they left us with a bad taste in our mouths. First off the item we were hoping to try was the biscuits and gravy. Upon ordering we were told that they just sold the last one, and wouldn't be willing to make anymore, because they make them fresh. This was 3 hours from closing. We were disappointed, but willing to take another stab at the menu. We ask the waitress what is better, the pumpkin pancakes, or the French toast. She responds emphatically, "the French toast!" So that is what we order. 30 minutes later the waitress returns to the table to inform us they are also sold out of the French Toast. We almost leave, but we were with friends and they had just received their order. We decided to share the already delivered food as a group, and go for lunch instead. It's a shame, the place has potential, but the food prep and kitchen is managed extremely poorly, that or the cooks are lazy. Especially for a place that is only open for breakfast and lunch. Our final impression was the waitress excited to tell us that they took the French toast off of the bill for us. Thanks for not charging us for food we didn't receive. We...

Location Location Location, this place is a little hidden Gem, but the Local's sure do know about it. This is a normal locals corner breakfast restaurant. No loud screaming kids from the hotels near by, just everyday normal adults grabbing breakfast in between working from home. It has a great laid back and relax vibe for being so close to downtown. Let's hope the crowd from the Hob Knob does not find out about this place. It reminded me of stepping back in time a little and on my visit, it was raining and cold, so it felt like an old warm and friendly spot you may pop into before going skiing, LOL It reminded me of being in Colorado for some reason. This place has such huge potential, but I think the patrons as well as the owners want to keep it simple and just the way it is, and that is not a bad thing. I will say, this spot would be a great venue to rent out at night for private events and such. They are only open for breakfast and early lunch. Pricing is average for the area, but that is the thing, not a lot of options in this area for this type of spot, it is not to hip spot, it is just a big plate of food, a hot up a coffee and a big smile...
