We very much enjoyed our stay. If you look closely you can certainly tell it is of older construction, but the management has done a great job in adding some modern amenities and touches to the space. And the staff was always so friendly and helpful with whatever we needed. Shout out to housekeeping, they always kept us well stocked with towels and toiletries! While there are more upscale hotels out there, for this hotel's pricepoint and all the extras that you get (location, service, breakfast, trendy space) I give it 4 stars. Now, if they also had a workout and weight room, I say 5 stars easy!
Furnishings and art are modern, and the room we stayed in (Queen on the 4th floor room 411) was plenty enough of room for my husband and I. The bathroom amenities are modern. The room has a mini fridge and a microwave. There is space to hang clothes and a sitting area next to the bed. There is TV with cable and if you need a hair dryer, all you have to do is ask for one.
The breakfast was not a luxurious spread, but certainly enough for my husband and I to get a good start to our day. They have an assortment of mini muffins and croissants, breads with butter and jam, fresh fruit, and coffee cakes. They also have hot tea, coffee, and fruit infused water. Small seating in the breakfast area but you can also sit in the lobby or the patio in front of the hotel.
They have a computer room should you need to print anything while you are there, and free wifi in the building. They also have a doggie biscuit bowl in the lobby and fresh water for your furry friend right outside in their patio area.
My husband and I would stay here again. A great location (walking distance to great restaurants in Little Italy and $7-8 uber to gaslamp), and once the piazza next door is finished will have an amazing view. We found the farmers market on Saturdays to be a lot of fun.
Did I mention we would...
Read moreDon't even bother! SCAM!!! BE AWARE!!! They only got 1 star because -5 was not an option. I had my room booked for 8 months and when the time came I called to confirm and was told there was an "issue"... since I booked through a 3rd party and they didn't have the proper rates for this time yet, they could not honor the rate that I had already been charged. I contemplated still staying since it was a great location and we had our whole weekend planned around this location, then when I asked about parking I was told by Manny on the phone at their front desk that it was 3 blocks away and would be $25 a night (nowhere was this disclosed) and to just come to the front of the hotel and they would direct us where to go. I now see that the owner responds with parking only being 1.5 blocks away...I believe the guests over someone trying to say what they feel necessary to keep business. I called the 3rd party to try and straighten things out and when they called the hotel the lady Mia I believe they said her name was said that my stay would now be over $300 for the 2 nights!!!! Holy what! How does it go up from a discounted rate (mind you that was still 10x what I booked it for) and an upgrade for the Agoda mess up to paying more than full price and then some!! This place is RIDICULOUS...they had all of my information so why when they saw the "mess up" would they not try to contact me! Had I not called to confirm myself I would have known NONE of this until it was too late!!! Very very unprofessional and hope they get caught running this scam every time!!!
I have booked other properties through Agoda for amazing rates and have had...
Read moreUrban Boutique is a very convenient location for an individual looking for a place to simply stay and sleep while exploring all the attractions in San Diego. The San Diego airport has a service in conjunction with Super Shuttle. This is a complimentary service- the fee is waived by Urban Boutique. Urban Boutique features contemporary art at the entrance/main lobby. The rooms are very well-kept and equipped with a refrigerator, adjustable temperature for each room; and television. Note that the rooms are small; I would recommend two people (maximum) per room for a comfortable overnight stay. The housekeeping does a great job with maintaining the cleanliness of the room. There was only one occasion where it was noticeable that the hard floor in room had not been swept. When management was asked to please have the floor swept, it was completed thoroughly and without hesitation on their part. The continental breakfast is a truly nice component of staying here, given the very low rates. Also, the wifi connection was superb throughout, (although utilize your judgment based on your phone and coverage). The view from my room was the side of the building adjacent to the hotel. If you want a scenic view, ask if another side offers such view; otherwise, know that it is possible to simply have a side of another building as the outside view. The location of Urban Botique, itself, is in the heart of the bay; a decent walk to the ferry to explore Coronado island; and nestled a plethora of museums and unique restaurants that comprise Little Italy. Definitely worth looking into if you want a cheaper place to sleep and get out...
