Our room was nasty. We were upgraded because of Titanium stays and certificates, but it wasn't worth it. The carpet was dirty. We felt like we needed to wear shoes at all times. The furniture was torn and worn. the refrigerator looked like someone took a hammer to the front of it. The coffee pot was crusty and unclean. But worst of alll there was a huge clump of hair in the shower/tub. That is just disgusting. In reading reviews on the Marriott web site about this hotel, I noticed there were prior complaints about all of the above..... including hair clumps in the shower. Your response was that you would review the complaints with the staff and work to improve. Case in point - this hasn't changed a bit.
In fact all of your replies are exactly the same and say you will review with staff and make improvements. Doesn't seem to be working!
Also - i checked in using my Bonvoy app and requested extra pillows and towels using the app. When we arrived they were not there and we went out to our appointment. When we came back around 6:00pm we still had not received the additional items. So, I called down to the front desk to ask for them to be brought up. I was curtly told that I would have to come get them myself. When I asked why , I was told that she was the only one there and couldn't leave the desk. I was insulted by the tone. If she would have replied, "Oh, I'm sorry but I'm the only one here right now, would it be ok if you came down and picked them up? I'm really sorry.", it would have been somewhat acceptable. But she was rude and said housekeeping goes home at 4:00 so there was nothing she could do. When I asked why the request I made on the app was not done, since I did that at noon before housekeeping left, she said that they don't get to see those requests, only the general manager Mr Coons sees them and he wasn't in that day.
This stay was probably my worst stay ever at a Marriott property. I am Forever Platinum and Titanium for the next 2 years. So I have stayed at Marriott nearly 1000 nights. These 2 were the worst!.
I used 80,000 point for 2 nights stay. This was a lot for such nasty and rude service in addition to the worst room I've...
Read moreThis hotel is gross! It is nowhere near Marriott standards. The entire hotel stinks, our room and the lobby the worst. It smells like wet dogs. People are basically camping out in the parking lot, and no one says anything to them. I have not traveled much with my dog, but she was recently diagnosed with cancer so we brought her. Over $100 in fees for one night with a dog! I could not believe the rate I paid to stay in such a crappy hotel and then pay another $100 on top of that. What I paying for? Your "pet relief area" is disgusting! It was covered in dog poop and such a tiny space. Any other free space around the hotel was full of camped out homeless people so the only option in the middle of the night with a pet is to go all the way across the street to the park. Our shampoo bottles were not even full, like they had been used before, the tub was disgusting with a dark stained ring like dirty water had sat in there for months. The water in the shower didn't get hotter than just over luke warm. I needed a warm bath after my half marathon, and it was useless. Barely warm and it ran and ran at the hottest setting. No dish soap like every other residence in I've stayed at, no bags in the trash cans. The TV in our room kept getting pixilated and then would shut off. It was late and I didn't want to be waiting up for someone to come in our room and fix it, so I was just going to mention it when I left. However, no one asked how my stay was. I would have loved to talk to the manager about multiple things but no one asked how my stay was. The trains are so loud! Do not stay on the back side of the hotel! The other disappointment was the shuttle. I missed it going to the convention center, so I took an Uber and asked the front desk, if I need to come back at 5, can I schedule that? She said I could just call and they'd send the shuttle down. I called a little before 5 and she said he had a scheduled ride to the zoo at 530 and then he could come get me after that. Why wasn't I offered a scheduled ride? The breakfast was a joke! Cold eggs and empty coffee is not my idea of a good breakfast. The list goes on. It was honestly one of the worst hotel...
Read moreWe came to San Diego to see our newest grandchild, our 9th, a baby girl named Goldie Rae. She was premature, born at 29 weeks back at end of January. She came home a week prior to her actual due date of April 7th. We had booked this vacation months prior so we could enjoy their precious moment. We worried much that the parents would need us, but of course, they were very capable of being great new parents, and Goldie shows it in her growth and health.
Having given the background on our reason for arriving in San Diego, our stay was wonderful. Upon arrival Candice greeted us with a smile and very informative. Every time we had a question, she was able to answer. During our stay, 12 days, every time we saw Candice there was a smile on her face and a friendly greeting. This time was prior to Easter and we had 9 cards to be mailed to our grandchildren. Your front desk was able to ensure they could place them in the mail. All grandchildren did receive their cards prior to Easter! We had a birthday card mailed and a letter to a friend, always greeted with a smile and a kind word.
The grounds were maintained and kept very clean. Cookies were available in afternoon and were delicious. Ice cold fruit water every day available. We thoroughly enjoyed after our walks thru the city seeing all the sites.
This hotel is located across from San Diego Bay and Little Italy is a block behind. The public transportation is within minutes walk to trains, trolley, buses and to scooters, cycles, and Ubers. If you like walking and enjoying the sites that are available, this is a great place to stay.
We started each morning with a walk along the bay, passing the cruise ship piers, Star of India, Midway, and the couple statue, So much history to be seen on a walk. Passing that, we walked to Seaport Village. The shops and carousel are wonderful to look through. Some of the gifts you may want are available here. The sites of the Naval base and Coronado from across the bay were wonderful.
You can take a ferry to Coronado, a trolley to all points of interest, and walk through much of the city.
I recommend this hotel for its professionalism, charm, location and...
