Sadly my review aligns with others regarding the wait time and quality/quantity issues. First of all, the hours on the website are INACCURATE. Do you realize you have customers that are showing up at 10:00 A.M. on Saturdays because your website for the University Ave location says Saturdays open 10:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. (not to mention it's the only day of the week in BOLD lettering). Google maps, which is heavily utilized, also shows the same opening time of 10:00 A.M. on Saturdays. Honestly, it's easy to fix and if you correct this problem, you'll have happier customers. When we showed up around 10:10 A.M. there was another customer who showed up, actually entered the shop, and then quickly exited because he was told they open at 11:00 A.M.
Secondly, since we got there at 10:10 A.M. and they were closed we figured we'd order for pick-up on their website and go for a walk around the neighborhood while we waited. We easily placed our order and we selected 11:00 A.M. pick up time (assuming that if we make that selection, it will actually be ready for pick-up). We went for a walk and returned at 11:02 A.M. and there was already a line out the door. So my husband sticks his head in the door to check on our order and they said, "We're still working on it." Okay. You just opened. He checks again, after 18 minutes, and was told they were "still working on it." In the meantime, the first customer who ordered at the register already got her sandwiches and another order for pick up got theirs. Okay, ours was finally ready around 11:25 A.M. This isn't rocket science. To the owner or manager of this establishment, why on earth would you allow the option for an 11:00 A.M. pick up time selection if you're not going to honor it? I read the reviews and your customers are complaining about THE SAME ISSUES. It's easy to fix!!! Instead you're leaving people feeling frustrated and regretting the time and money spent.
Thirdly, our sandwiches (two Matt Cain's) were good- not outstanding, but definitely better than your average subway sandwich. I love Dutch crunch, but the bread to meat ratio was COMPLETELY imbalanced. I felt like I was eating soooo much bread compared to meat and veggies. Beware, the middle split where your sandwich is sliced will look incredible but it is quite deceiving. A good portion of the ends do not have any meat, just lettuce and bread. We checked "extra sauce" when ordering but it seemed like an average amount.
To sum up, I'm glad we tried the sandwiches. They have potential. I'm disappointed on the execution and the fact that our experience matched other reviews. Reviewers receive a response from the owner but yet customers are making the same complaints. That tells me management isn't concerned. Fix these problems and you'll get 5 star reviews.
When writing a review, I ask myself, will I come back? If the answer is yes, you automatically get 3 stars. I'd like to give them another chance. One star deducted for the inaccurate store opening times that are falsely advertised on their website & Google Maps AND for the 25 minute wait time that incurred after my scheduled pick up time. They also lose a star for the lack of meat. If I'm paying $13 for a sandwich, it should have an appropriate amount of protein.
Management, don't just respond to the reviewer, actually listen to us!!
Edit: Forgot to mention their phone doesn't work, either. It's disconnected and when a fellow customer mentioned it to staff they got the response, "Oh yeah, it's...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOk. So I just inhaled half of the sandwich I got from here. I was STARVING, have zero food in my place, and my electric bike was just stolen so I went on Uber Eats. OMG this place has the BEST sandwiches EVER. I had the Terrell Davis on French bread. Had them add Godfather Sauce. I ordered one sandwich. When I picked up the bag after it was delivered I kid you not it felt like I had ordered like 5 burritos. You know how burritos feel inside of a bag? This felt like that, it didn't feel like a sandwich. Hope that makes sense. Of course it was a sandwich though and when I opened the bag there were plenty of napkins-thank you- and a very neatly wrapped sandwich. It was filled with the PERFECT amount of everything. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, the tomatoes were ripe but not too ripe. THE BREAD....AHHHHH THE BREAD! ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS and toasted just right. I am 51 years old and LOVE a good sandwich! BY FAR THIS IS THE BEST SANDWICH I HAVE EVER HAD!!!! So much so I felt compelled to write this review and I don't think I have ever taken the time to write a review about anything else I have ever eaten. I ate half the sandwich and I am full. Can't wait until my stomach has room for the other half!! DEFINITELY worth the calories and the price. If you are looking for the BEST SANDWICH EVER you HAVE to try this place. I promise you will LOVE it. I sure did!!! Thank you Ike's!!! Oh and I forgot to add that they threw in a caramel apple lollipop too!!! Such a nice treat. You MUST try this place. You won't...
Read moreJust moved to the MV area and this wasn't bad for our first time trying (Hillcrest), we'd definitely go back to try other sandwiches on their menu - so far this was one of the better sandwich shop we've found . When we went lines weren't too terribly horrible, about a 10-15 minute wait time (I had company so it went by a tad quicker). Service was slow (waiting time) but mainly because there was only 1 person that was doing all the cooking and frying in the back while there was only 1 person at the register. We waited for almost a good ~20-25 minutes, close to 30 min waiting for our food to be completed after ordering - this was around 2 PM. I don't blame the staff, especially when there were multiple individuals and other group/parties waiting in front of me too. Though, the sandwiches were great, big and full (ménage a tois & matt cain), the side of onion rings that we've received were burnt, but on the side note, the honey bbq sauce, I think that's what it was... tasted good. Overall, I wasn't disappointed in the food and the amount that we received. I've been in the food industry before and I get it. Hoping that operations could improve a bit more in the future though, i.e. getting another cook/chef and another person at the register to run the pick up/handing out orders,...
