Luna Grill Mira Mesa — Restaurant in San Diego

The food at Luna Grill is so hit or miss - possibly depending on who's working; not sure

As I'm currently lapsed from being vegan, I have a tendency to go for Greek or Vietnamese food, when I want to eat semi-healthy.

Recently, I got their "Modern Greek Salad" with gyros meat. And it was great, with lots of cukes, tomatoes, chickpeas, etc. juicy strips of gyros meat. I personally dislike the California "Modern Greek Salad" dish because it's a pale replica of the original Greek salad I've had 100+ times in Canadian Greek restaurants.

But I liked it even less today. Thinking I wanted another of the same dish like last week, I ordered and added chicken (5 pcs of one kabob for nearly $10 for the addition).

The gyros meat was burnt, shriveled up and mostly tasteless. The chicken pcs were alternately dried up or juicy -- e.g., inconsistent. But the salad was the worst part. The takeout container was the same size as last week, but there was less than half of the important part of the salad - barely any veg, and way less than last time. And most of the volume was taken up with that bitter red lettuce I can't stand that seems to be in every Greek Salad in the San Diego area. Real Greek salad doesn't have ANY lettuce -- especially this bitter red lettuce.

As much as I like the food here when it's good, the food just isn't consistent. But the staff is friendly, and food is served fairly quickly. If you go, hopefully you order on a day when the food is consistent. I've also had one of their sampler plates (takeout) and it was very good.

They just need to be more consistent. And can anyone please have some sense and offer a real...

Luna Grill is awesome! The food is delicious! Everyone I have encountered there is so nice and cheerful. They are always kind. Especially the young woman with blonde hair and glasses. She was kind, courteous, happy, and a delight to speak with. I am taking away one star because the app never works to order take out with an offer or a coupon. Every time I try to order thru the app and use an offer,, it wont complete the order. It repeatedly gives a message that the amount due has changed and you need to refresh. I did it a million times and it wouldnt work. I went in to place my order and found other patrons were having the same issue. The restaurant staff apologized and mentioned it has been goong on for a while. That was 2 months ago. As of yesterday, the app would not let me order ahead with my offer. It kept saying what I was ordering was unavailable. I tried to order different things and it said the same thing each time. Again, had to go and order at the restaurant. Perfect place for family dining experience! Just left this particular location of Luna Grill with family happy and full of really delicious food. Got myself, 3yo little one, mom and pregnant wife just full with only three plates, which is amazing cause of the quality and quantity of food. Would say a bit pricy cause I was dining bit cheaper in same kind of places but it totally worth it! The interior of the place is clean and nice, music is at the right level, but the biggest pro is the personnel. Our server was a lady named Mia, she understood we were very first time at this place and recommended the exactly food we were asking for. And more than that she went above and beyond to serve us with an entree and was even kind enough to bring a bottle of ketchup after all.
