IHOP — Restaurant in San Diego

Hard to rate it on this scale provided but I’ll say this, I’m sitting in my booth at this location currently and I typically don’t type reviews especially for chain establishments but I felt like this couldn’t go unsaid.

I arrived here over an hour ago to a mostly empty dining room total 5 tables of various sizes with the largest being a family of 6. There is very minimal staff which is to be expected for a breakfast place at 8pm on a Friday still no excuse for why I stood at the entrance waiting to be sat for 10ish minutes. Once finally greeted and sat it was almost 20min before I saw that server again. So now we’re 30 minutes deep and I don’t even have a water let alone my food started. I’ve worked in restaurants my whole life and that’s just not an acceptable turn around time.

And that’s just me as I sat waiting patiently; because this one server was doings an amazing job running the place single handedly, the phone had rung a total of three times and was not answered once. The party of six had one of its guests up and pacing around looking for the server I could overhear a conversation at another table, complaining about the length of time it was taking. And to me that is also on except like I said, the one server was doing a wonderful job keeping up as best she could I guess my major complaint is the fact that there was no one...

Oh my! Were do I even start. Well, My husband and I took my parents out for breakfast on Tuesday morning. We were seated right away and that was nice. But the waitress got the order of drinks wrong I didn’t even say anything I just let it go then, a different waitress comes to take our order it took forever to get the food to us we were seated first then another family that had more people than our table. And that family got their food first. Then our food came and I get it accidents happen but the pancakes dropped on the floor. Lastly, no napkins were given to us and we had to go look for a waitress to ask for napkins when we finally found one she told us she will take us the napkins but she NEVER did. My husband had to go ask again turns out she was cleaning the window. Anywho, we had asked for the bill and nothing came again. We had to go look for someone AGAIN. Then, we were going to pay and the waitress asked me to fill out the tip area repeatedly don't get me wrong I always tip but the service was horrible, and the fact that I was basically getting asked for a tip had me done with this place. We have frequented this location of IHOP in the past with nearly no incident. This was different. We ordered milkshakes and glasses of water upon getting sitting as our waiter asked before we sat. Nothing came out for 20 min. There were two other people sitting together and already served in the restaurant besides us. Our shakes came out and were incorrect. When we did get them, they were much smaller than they’re meant to be based on menu pic and our history going to IHOP at this location. Our water then came out at 25 min in. We ordered fries and a grilled cheese. We got undercooked fries (also fewer than we’ve ever experienced) and the grilled cheese was not a grilled cheese. In order to try and fix it, we made an analogy to a BLT. We received the BLT and paid a lot of money for a lettuce and tomato sandwhich. I noted both and said I would not be paying for the grilled cheese. They charged a full BLT price despite no cheese and no bacon (per request) and no side. We also didn’t receive a kids drink. Walked out with a bill for a half serving of fries and two melted and incorrect shakes. We will be changing our schedule. We went each first Monday...
