My wife and I went to Luna Grill for dinner at the Mission Valley location in San Diego, CA. We arrived just after 7pm. The parking lot was fairly busy as the location is located in a larger shopping center, but we lucked out and we were able to get a spot up close as someone was pulling out as we arrived. The restaurant itself was clean. The seating allowed for approximately 20-30 guests total. Two other groups of two patrons were present as we arrived sitting and eating. Additionally, one other gentleman was waiting for a to-go order. As we ate, one additional group of two ordered and sat down. Several additional people arrived to pick up to-go orders ordered online and one woman with two children ordered to-go at the counter. The two staff members manning the counter were very friendly, but the wait was a bit slow. It seemed a new employee was operating the register and the other was supporting and answering questions. No issue, just an observation. As we ordered our food, we had a few questions about the sauces which were happily answered. After our order was complete, we received a number and a stand to place on our table. The was dropped off to our table within 5 minutes. We were missing one sauce. The staff apologized and brought two of the missing sauce immediately. The food itself was amazing. We each ordered a plate with an additional kabob. My wife ordered the gyro meat plate with an additional koobideh kabob. Her plate came with a side salad, rice, and two pita triangles. I ordered the roasted garlic lemon chicken (new) plate with an additional bistro beef kabob. My plate came with Spicy Harissa Hummus, rice, and two pita triangles. Each plate came with one sauce side and we ordered a few extras to try: garlic feta (x2), schug, tahini, chipotle, and tzatziki. Gyro – cooked and seasoned perfectly. My favorite item that we ordered. Koobideh – cooked great, seasoning could have used more pronunciation, but still delicious. Bistro beef kabob – meat was mostly super tender and well-seasoned. Two bites had a small amount of gristle. The red peppers and red onions on the kebab were cooked to perfection. Roasted garlic lemon chicken – some of the chicken was a little dry, but overall was cooked well. The taste was good; not overpowering but could have used some salt to help bring out the flavors. Rice – cooked great, not mushy or hard. Pita – texture, denseness, and consistency was great. Salad – way too many tomatoes, house dressing was good All of the sauces were good. The garlic feta is superb.; rich, creamy, not overpowering. The schug is a close second; very unique flavor profile, not as spicy other skhugs that I have tried. If you like cilantro, this...
Read moreI stopped by yesterday to pick up the order. There ware two girls and a man, I let them know the name on the order then stepped outside because of the COVID-19 restrictions. In a little bit I went back to check if order was ready since it was placed in advance, told them the name for the order again. They said it’s not ready and I stepped outside again. I was kid of losing my patience and I saw them putting some bags on separate table. I did not want to be annoying and was sure they will let me know as soon as order is ready. In 25 minutes of waiting outside and starting to stare at them through the glass, man came outside and asked me what was the name on the order!? I told him the name for the third time, he went back without saying a word, I followed him, he took a bag from the table that’s been sitting there all this time and gave it to me in a rush. I asked him why didn’t they let me know right away that order is ready? He turned around and zoom out without saying sorry or anything.
You pay money to support businesses in this uncertain times, but instead of appreciation you get ignorance and cold food, never seen such a carelessness to the customers. Not...
Read moreI'd love to give this place a better review, as the food is usually fresh and delicious. But ordering and picking up is usually a complete hassle that makes the whole experience one that I'd rather skip. Ordering online is hit and miss as the website has been down periodically, and they don't allow you to add their military discount this way at all and will not make it up at the store. Ordering over the phone means either having the phone continue to ring until the call disconnects, being placed on up to a ten minute hold of they do answer, and having to repeat things over and over as they can never hear because of the noise in their place of business. Picking up used to mean standing in one line and only occasionally getting to switch to the other counter for a shorter wait. I'm on my last straw with this place before it gets crossed off the list for good. Thanks ever so much for offering a discount that is almost impossible to take advantage of due to your...
