Five stars across the board for this place! We were having a gathering with old friends while my daughter was in town and we knew there would be 10 to 15 people there depending on who could make it. We used to always get together at Souplantation because of the variety of food choices and they had a back room we could get together in but since they're closed we had to choose someplace different. We threw around some various ideas and wanted to find a place close to one person because she has a disabled daughter and it's harder for her to get out and go places. Everybody agreed that we all love Vietnamese food and someone suggested this place. I recognized the name as I have heard it for years and years through Yelp reviews and pictures so we decided to go here. In the pictures it looked spacious and like we could push tables together which is exactly what happened. It took about an hour for everybody to congregate because some people are perpetually late but those of us who were there on time enjoyed our drinks and conversation while we waited. Everyone got something different and everyone was extremely happy with their food from the 4 year olds up to the Grammies. The service was excellent, the prices were reasonable everything was immaculately clean with good quality food, etc. Personally I had the Basil Shrimp Vermicelli and it was perfect for a warm weather meal. One daughter ordered egg rolls to share and they were delicious and crispy. One got a sandwich and a couple got Pho. Several of us got drinks including my Vietnamese coffee. We had no complaints about anything. I highly recommend to anyone, including large groups. We were having such a good time I completely forgot to take photos except some we had taken at the end and the waitress was very nice to take some for us. We ended up with 13...

I love love love the Pho Ca Dao in Mira Mesa... sadly this location is one of the worst restaurants I've been to in my life. ATTENTION MANAGEMENT and OWNERS, please either retrain or replace the staff that worked on the afternoon of Saturday November 26 especially the long hair gentleman working the front door and tables.

Firstly, the restaurant was almost empty and it took them 5 minutes to seat is and nearly another 20 minutes to bring us menus and another 10 mins from there to bring water. The food trays, table, chairs and the floors were dirty and oily. There was maybe 4 tables seated including ours and I saw at least 5 employees so it wasn't busy and no excuse for the uncleanliness and poor service.

Secondly, the food was the worst pho I've ever had a Pho CA Dao location. The trays the food were served on were nasty and oily. The robot malfunctioned and didn't delivery properly. My partner got one the bahn mi and the mustard was bad and got stomach pains later that evening through the next day.

Lastly, we finished our meal and had to wait another 20 minutes after asking for our bill. The waiter proceeded to clean some stations, answer phone calls, talk to his buddy and watch the football game before I got up and asked for my bill a third time. When I addressed my concerns the young waiter was completely dismissive, rude, and extraordinarily unprofessional.

I would highly avoid going to this location until they make some serious changes to match the quality of service and food as the other locations, it did not live up the Pho Ca Dao legacy. The location in Mira Mesa has always impressed my family and myself for...

I used to love this place and really supported them through pandemic with takeout orders. But here’s the thing - I feel like this place has gotten lazy. It’s ok if you eat in but take out is another story. 2x in a row now, recently, they didn’t get my order right.

I didn’t check my order and I went home missing one order. Luckily, I live very close so I went back and they told me they ran out of the bahn mi sandwich but didn’t bother letting me know, but still charged me anyway. They apologized as they were “backed” up but there were a few of them standing around not doing much by the bar area. I ended up getting a pho instead - though they didn’t have the one I originally wanted - because again, they were out of ingredients.

As of tonight, we tried our luck again. They were 20 mins behind as they were backed up (but they were not busy from the looks of it), and when they gave us our order we knew better to check. They said they just put it together but we insisted we check. Well, not to our surprise, they doubled one order and forgot another again. So we got that corrected.

Just feels like there’s been such a lack of attention here. They are slow. The taste is fine though the oxtail I get with my pho has also gotten smaller in size overtime and was mostly bones from this most recent order. Orders haven’t been prepared consistently either.

I’ve also tried calling this place a ton but I’ve been told by staff they don’t answer their phones anymore. So yeah, don’t do takeouts here. Not worth the stress and hassle. I want to keep supporting them but I’m not as inclined to do it with recent my...

TLDR: The interior space is well-decorated but the staff and menu items need to be improved. The space is clean and inviting. However, the staff need to work on their attentiveness to guests and ensure that all orders are brought to the table as requested. They stayed at the front of the restaurant a majority of the time and it was difficult to get their attention without getting up from the table. My extended family members and I ordered a bit of everything from the menu. Beverages were brought out first, food arrived after fifteen minutes or so, one main dish was was missing until I mentioned it to the waiter, we asked for dessert to go since we felt that the food was mediocre. The noodle soups on the menu seemed to have the same soup base. The Phở and Bún bò Huế broths tasted the same. Neither having the distinct depth flavor we are used to compared to other restaurants that specialize in making them. I went a second time and ordered the Bánh canh aka Seafood Udon Noodle Soup. Based on the soup flavor, I confirmed the soups here are mostly if not the same with subtle tweaks. I wish the menu item had fresh seafood instead of imitation crab meat. The Soda xí muội was refreshing with a hint of salt. The Virgin Mojito was okay. I loved that the beverage was packed with stems of fresh mint but it would be better if the leaves were muddled a bit so that the mint shined through.
