A GEM IN THE BARRIO We are absolutely delighted to have discovered Cafe Madeleine in the heart of Barrio Logan! From the moment we stepped inside, we knew we were in for a treat. This charming Mexican-style restaurant is a masterpiece, not just in terms of its exquisite cuisine, but also its stunning architecture and warm hospitality. Located within the award-winning Orchid Award of Architecture building in San Diego, Cafe Madeleine is a feast for the eyes and the taste buds. The beautifully decorated interior is a perfect blend of traditional Mexican flair and modern comfort, making you feel right at home. But what truly sets Cafe Madeleine apart is its exceptional staff. The team is incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely invested in ensuring that every guest has an outstanding experience. From the moment you arrive, they'll go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and cater to your every need. And then, of course, there's the food - oh, the food! Every dish we've tried has been expertly prepared with the freshest ingredients, showcasing the rich flavors and traditions of Mexican cuisine. The attention to detail and care that goes into every meal is evident, and it's clear that the team takes immense pride in their craft. What we love most about Cafe Madeleine, however, is the sense of community and warmth that permeates every aspect of the restaurant. It's not just a place to grab a meal; it's an experience that will leave you feeling full, happy, and eager to return. If you're looking for a unique and unforgettable dining experience in San Diego, look no further than Cafe Madeleine. We can't recommend it enough!

Heard about this new cafe from instagram foodie @socalyums - Madeleine just opened a couple of weeks ago. We couldn’t have been happier with our breakfast choices - summer omelette for my wife with fresh ingredients, including squash blossoms, a the simple breakfast for me, which included scrambled eggs cooked to perfection and breakfast potatoes that were seasoned perfectly. The tea brand they use is excellent - Dammann Freres. Hosts and staff were attentive and very nice. Definitely a new go to place for us!

Sunday morning, 9/14/25, ordered the house benedicte for take out. The notification stated that the food would be ready in 15 minutes. I arrived 20 minutes later and was met by a woman with pulledback hairstyle. No smile or enthusiasm, just seemed indifferent. She said that the food wasn't ready and it would be another 5 minutes. I said fine.

I came back 8 minutes later, and she was sitting at a front table staring at her phone. I asked for order status, and she mumbled something about only one chef working while she continued to look at her phone. As I turned to the counter, the chef, who looked like a twenty year old kid, handed me the food.

After the disappointing service, I tried the house benedicte. There was a consistent old/burnt butter/oil flavor present. The potatoes had an off putting sour flavor, the focaccia was soggy, and the prosciutto wasn't crispy. One of the worst benedicte's I've had.

In sum, poor service and overpriced, mediocre food. This place is run by amateurs and the owner is not paying attention. Definitely will not...

This cafe is super cozy and relaxing! Always a nice breeze coming through so I might get a little bit chilly. The staff are always nice and attentive, they always greet you with a smile. The food is fresh but on the expensive side. The chicken sandwich is the best dish I had so far and the bakery items are so pretty and delicious! The coffee is decent, on the pricier side. Overall the atmosphere is calm, refreshing and cozy. Perfect place to catch up with some friends and then head over to see all the shops by...
