I’ve been coming to maya moon for the past 3 years. I’ve been a loyal customer!! I have spent ALOT of MONEY there!!! Today was my 33rd birthday! I walked in and saw the owner. She’s aware of who I am. I’ve spoken to her and she knows I’ve been going there for a while now. I’ve given complements on how I love the evolution of maya moon. How I love the art work and seeing all the new plants in there! Anyways I walked in the other day and mentioned to her, “hey it’s my birthday today.” She barely acknowledged my existence! Then I said do I get a free drink for my birthday? Half jokingly! Of course! She responded, “well do you have enough rewards?” I was like,”OMG!” in my mind!!! Rewards are if you buy 10 or more drinks you get a free drink. I had 800 points and needed 200 more points for a free drink. It ABSOLUTELY BOGGLES my mind that she couldn’t offer me a Free drink. It probably costs her like 3 dollars. I give tips every time of 3 dollars!! Of course people will say, “you shouldn’t expect a free drink.” I understand that, however the owner has seen me be a LOYAL customer for 3 YEARS!!! I have spoken nothing but positivity about the place to so many people!! I have brought in many new customers to maya moon! I ask her if she had 2 seconds to speak. She said no I don’t have time!!! You have to be KIDDING ME!! I will not be coming in to maya moon EVER again!!! Also there are 2 men that work there that have been disrespectful towards me as well. But there are also really good people that work there as well. Juslene the manager has been GREAT towards me!!! She’s also VEGAN!!!’ Kayla has also been great!! I love that she loves nature!!! She ACTUALLY TALKS TO Me. Sophie has also been GREAT ! She’s so FUNNY!!!! Sol is also so AMAZING!! She’s so SWEEt and funny !! I wish them nothing...
Read moreI’ve been super excited to try this place, it’s been on my “yummy drinks” bucket list for a while. I walked in with my mom and sister and before we even stepped inside of the building, the girl at the cash register was giving us dirty looks — staring at us up and down. When we walked in, I said “hi,” and she continued to stare at us. All of us were in sweaters and jeans, we were quiet and were respectful of the place we were walking into. There was absolutely no reason to stare at us so rudely. It wasn’t brief either, the stares were clearly intentional. We walked around the store feeling very uncomfortable after being ignored and rudely stared at. For a place that’s supposed to embody welcoming vibrations, kindness and an open heart, we felt everything but that inside of Maya Moon. It was very unfortunate as the inside looked lovely and drinks were appetizing, but we struggled to justify buying anything after being greeted in such a disturbing manner. When we walked out, she watched us leave peaking from the green curtain, again staring at us. I had recommended this place to my university friends and other family in SD, but I will be letting them know this isn’t the place to go as it does not seem as welcoming as advertised. Bad look for what the company values, and wondering if we were treated differently because of our skin color. Whatever it was, we are extremely disappointed and will not...
Read moreFun, delicious non-coffee shop! Maya Moon offers delicious cocoa and green tea drinks as well as a small food menu. Note: You can get espresso shots added to your drink, so you can "coffee it up" if desired. My friend and I only got to try the drinks this time around, and we were very impressed. We were greeted by the friendly workers who asked if we were there for our first visit. When we affirmed that we were, we were given a brief explanation of what Maya Moon is all about, and we were shown the menu and were invited to ask questions about any of the offerings. I had a matcha latte, and my friend had a cocoa (hot chocolate). both were beautiful and tasted fabulous. The matcha latte wasn't too sweet, and although non-dairy as I requested, was very rich. The cafe's atmosphere is welcoming and casual, perfect for Normal Heights and San Diego, with concrete floors and a variety of seating (bar-height tables, regular tables, and floor cushions). Not only the yummy drinks, the kind and attentive service also makes you want to return to Maya Moon. Even after ordering at the counter, at least one of the workers will come check on you and chat for a...
