I have never experienced such blatant, overt racism than I have at this particular establishment. After taking my mother out shopping and to see the new film, Sinners, we ended up staying out later than expected and as such, were headed home much later than usual.
I prefer the nearby Jack in the Box because at late hours, this McDonald's seems to be a hub for the local vagrants to congregate and panhandle, which makes for a rather uncomfortable experience.
The night security guard, and older Mexican man with white hair, intentionally closed the door on my mother as she was carrying her bags in after he'd held it open for me. He stared at us throughout our entire order and while we waited for our food, one of the numerous homeless people in the building (bare, peeling feet on the linoleum, torn clothing, reeked of urine) began begging us for food and money.
Instead of stopping this, the security guard, no warning, attempted to kick me out for sitting on the stairs to tie my shoe. He refused to speak to me in English nor would he allow me to speak, and it was only after my mother argued with him in Spanish that he stopped.
I realized at this point that protocol was not the key motivator behind his actions and suggested to my mother that he was doing this to us and no one else, because we were quite literally the only Americans in the room.
We had spent upwards of forty dollars on food, which we later discovered to be missing specifically requested and paid for items, and since we could not use the stairs and everywhere else was taken up by homeless people, we used the counter allotted to customers so we could bag our food.
Instead of waiting until we were finished, the custodian woman walked over and pressed her trashcan against my mother, demanding that we move so she can do the trash. She would not move it so I had to intervene and move it for her, telling her to wait. The custodian woman smiled mirthfully and exchanged words in Spanish with the security guard before doing it again.
It was clear that she was attempting to invoke a physical response her associate could act on. One of the homeless people even intervened on our behalf, asking her why she was behaving in such an unprofessional manner but she simply smiled and kept repeating 'Hasta luego' and waving her hand in a dismissive manner at all three of us.
This is by far, the absolute worst McDonald's location in all of San Diego and I will be actively warning everyone I know not to spend their money here. It is clear these people do not value their customers, but themselves. Serious changes need to be made. At the top of this list is a call for diversity and affirmative action.
Refusing to communicate in English and disrespectfully alienating your American clientele, whilst operating an all-american burger franchise, is not what a McDonald's in the year 2025 should allow. Hold your staff to a...
Read moreI went to get me lunch deal with a large orange drink. The staff was more than mean & made a big deal over nothing. Everything I do & say they twisted my rights telling me to leave or get out go away this security guy not Mexican wearing a fake security shirt, I was using the rest room, wasn't even 5 minutes, he was knocking on the bathroom door telling me I had to get out. I wasn't even done. I had my back pack outside my closed door because it's a tight fit if your not in the Handicap stall. This security guard then got my backpack & took off with it. I hurried up, went outside, he had it on the floor. That's when I not iced my drink I left on the table was gone. When I went to complain to the guys working the front registors, they would not just do me the courtesy to replace my drink, saying I had to repurchase in other words pay again, while I was explaining to staff why should I have to pay again, security was telling them to tell me no & that I had to leave, then he got my back pack once again & thru it outside. All the while I was asking McDonald staff to please replace my Large drink so I can leave. Why do these people trip out so harshly on me or for anyone I felt so targeted. Like they especially come down to be harassed at random some of us, or is it just me because at times, I'm just not doing anything wrong, I have no where to stay & have to wait the long night till the morning when the buses restart again but it really started my day very negative & ruins my whole start of my next day. Outside is cold & the cold wind isn't so forgiving. If I offended anybody at any point I want to apologize as well as forgive the ones that have offended me. To everyone start over on a better start remember we are all Raza & our Lord King of King Loves us, & I pray Jesus & the Holly Spirit for all of us a blessed & prosperous morning, evening, or night all the time & to please let's not complicate any of us while we're all down & out. It's just a freaking bathroom break I paid to get in & expect no one to be rushing me out for any reason. Other than a few hard insidious ridiculously busy bad moments for the most this place is very pleasant & the people & staff are nice quick...
Read morePeople there are mean as hell!! (1) I waited in line, no problem, I do that all the time, I get to the cashier, she asked to take my order, as I started ordering she hears something someone said, she turns her stupid head and walks away without excusing herself, she just walked away as I began to order. (2) the b* took my order and did not bother to ask if the order was to go or eat-in, so they put my order in a bag. I took the bag looked for a table. A few minutes later I want a refill on my coffee, walked back to the counter, but this time decided to use a different cashier, you know, for better service, big mistake, this second cashier was worse than the first one. Too many things went wrong so I decide to observe for a while, maybe it was just me. I saw senior citizen approach the cashier to get a coffee refill, they sent her to the back of the line, and she was OLD. I wouldn't mind their "rules" but the way they talk to their customers. This is not my first time to this McDonalds, the other times someone else order for me, I didn't know what customers go through at thus suckky place. This I bow: I am NEVER coming back to this McDonalds..NEVER! stay way. My experience is not unique at...
