Craving pho and you’re in this area? Yes, the broth is good! It may not be like my most favorite pho broth in San Diego (i.e. Vietnamese Chinese Noodle House in National City) but it does the job! It’s got a good taste pho sure! If you’re dining in, you’ll get to eat your soup piping hot. Believe it or not, if you plan on picking up an order to go, the pho broth will still be hot as it is separated from the noodles so you can put it together at home. But just note: I wish they’d fill the to-go pho broth container to the top! Here is what I usually get here (also check out my pictures): Filet Mignon Pho - Sound fancy? It is more straightforward being that the filet mignon cut is tender and has absolutely no fat and ia it worth $15 in a pho soup? Yes! It tastes clean and, while you won’t get a lot of meat, it’s just enough to satisfy your tastebuds. Shrimp Spring Rolls: A bit thinner than other pho places but still tasty at $8.00 for 2 pieces BBQ Chicken Rice Plate: At $13.00, this generous rice plate is easily 2 servings! If you need a break from teriyaki chicken, this BBQ plate will surely deliver. Sauce is already on the sliced chicken. The servers are friendly and welcome you as you walks in whether you’re dining in or picking up an order. If you’re picking up an order, head straight towards the cashier counter towards the back to pay for it! You can sit at an empty table as you’re waiting for your food if it’s...
Read moreMy friend and I walked into the restaurant, saw no greeter or staff anywhere. However, there were two other customers dining in. Basically, it was not busy. We decided to take a seat, still no staff present to offer us a menu or drinks. After approximately five minutes, I had walked over to the kitchen area and requested for a menu. I noticed three staff members were posted in the kitchen, one of which was cooking. Finally, our order was taken. Although, the restaurant's decor was inviting and modern, I was no longer feeling hungry. I ordered tea while my friend ordered a vermicelli chicken spring rolls combo. Food temp was average and egg rolls were crispy and tasty. On the other hand, noodles were a tad on the hard side, veggies were skimpy and the chicken didn’t have the marinaded, savory bbq grill taste that I’m accustomed to (Pho cow 7 National city has the best). If it weren’t for the sauce, really, one would end up tasting boiled unseasoned chicken. The restaurant claims, “traditional, authentic Vietnamese restaurant serving high-quality food.” Would it have made a difference had the cook been of Vietnamese background vs Hispanic (all three were speaking Spanish).
The server we had was bare minimum, with no personality. She did not even ask once if we needed anything. At least offer more water.
Such a clean and nice looking restaurant. Too bad it will be...
Read more*I am happy to say that we returned and noticed a huge improvement in the food and service! Must be under new management. Tried the beef spring rolls they are delicious!!
This place was sadly a huge disappointment. I can't blame the staff for the service because there was only one lady during dinner rush hour, and she was the cashier and waitress. I'm assuming. Since she was so busy as the cashier we were never checked on by any server. We ordered at the register and tried the egg rolls, fillet mignon vermicelli bowl. The cook brought out our food. The egg rolls were not served with the usual lettuce and mint leaf that every Pho place serves them with. We had to get up to go ask for lettuce and we were told they don't serve them with lettuce. The egg rolls were so soggy and greasy!!! Had the flavor of being fried in old reused oil. The vermicelli bowl was so bland the meat had no flavor. I've been to many Pho places and have never been to one this disappointing. They are lucky they're in a very busy commercial area with lots of people shopping and needing...
