The Home Depot — Local services in San Diego

I’ve been shopping at this location for years without issue—until yesterday afternoon. My husband and I came in looking for foam boards. I got briefly sidetracked by the indoor plants, then asked an employee for help locating the foam boards. Early on, I noticed a short, bald man lingering nearby. While he appeared to be browsing, it quickly became clear that he wasn’t actually shopping.

After we reached the foam boards and spoke with another employee, I saw the same man in the next aisle speaking with a taller, larger individual. One of them said "there they are." When we started heading toward the registers, the bald man—wearing a white shirt and long black/gray shorts—began following us again.

I pointed him out directly to my husband. As soon as the man noticed I had pointed at him, he stopped between aisles, once again not pretending to shop. His behavior was obvious and made us both very uncomfortable and unsafe. My husband wanted to confront him, I asked him not to. You just never know what kind of creeps are out there.

If he was part of Loss Prevention, the way the situation was handled was inappropriate and unprofessional. If he wasn’t, then I strongly urge management to look into this to ensure the safety of customers—especially women. Either way, the experience was poorly managed and left a negative impression: either we were being profiled, or someone was allowed to follow us around unchecked.

I went in to buy some paint, just a small pint. I like PPG products so I picked a base gloss. I didn't find the color I wanted in the PPG so I picked a Behr color. I took the paint and color up to the front counter to get it mixed and....the front HD paint guy looked at them and said "No". I was like what do you mean no? He said you can't mix a Behr color with a PPG base paint. I said I don't think that's right you have a machine back there that can match anything and any color. In fact according to your ads I should be able to bring something from home you put it into your machine and it would match the color or come pretty close. He just stood there and looked at me and I said so can you take this color swatch over there and match the paint color. He took the paint and the color swatch and started to walk away I said thank you and he said please. I said what and he said please to which I said oh so it's going to be like that today. So I grabbed the paint and the color from him and said I'll be right back and I went and found his manager. Apparently this guy has been causing a lot of grief for home Depot because when I brought it up to the The manager he knew immediately who I was talking about. In fact he said oh it's __. Long story short another associate came over mixed the paint with no problem and from what I understand I'm thinking maybe this guy got fired. If you hate your job so much then quit. Last time I checked home Depot does not employ slaves. You do have a choice...

This home depot is probably one of the smallest locations I've been to. Some of the staff are very kind and the other ones are just bullies. Several times that I've been here, I've asked where I may find what I was looking for and I was sent completely opposite of that direction. (Tip) If you need help with something, make sure they go with you and not just told to go to an aisle and waste your time. 10 times out of 10, if it gets you upset enough to look for the associate who just did that to you, there gone! Beware of the Woman workers. Especially the short chubby ones or tall chubby ones with too much makeup, they love to argue and have no problem looking at you like they can't wait for you to leave. I've been charged for one item 13 times one time and when I realized it the next day, they would not give me a refund. Hello!! Cameras!! They lie, manipulate and I don't understand how some days I go there are good (rare) and others are the most rudest and uninviting. Honestly, I can't stand this location but it's literally the closest to me. Fire your staff, you know which ones to get rid of. No person should be treated so rudely....
