Great Food, Terrible Customer Service! Just a Heads Up!
I walked in to place a to-go order and was immediately met with a cold, unwelcoming attitude. The woman at the counter I believe her name was “Betsy” or something similar, looked like I was disturbing her morning just by being there. No greeting, no smile, just straight attitude. She proceeded by asking me “What do you need?” Which is an improper and disrespectful way to ask your customers for their order.
I asked about the corned beef hash I saw in their online photos and without even checking, she quickly replied, “We don’t have that,” and walked away. I continued to browse the menu and placed my order. After paying, I noticed her staring at the credit card machine, clearly expecting a tip which I didn’t leave because frankly, her service didn’t deserve one. She noticed and then proceeded to go about her tasks while slamming items around in frustration. Completely unprofessional.
She told me my food will take about 15 minutes to be ready. When I came back 15 minutes later to pick up my food, she told me that my food has been ready and that she was about to throw it in the trash. She was about to throw the FOOD I PAID FOR IN THE TRASH. Her reason why she’s not in the mood was because “it’s morning” THEN DONT WORK AT A BREAKFAST PLACE IF YOU CAN’T tolerate people or perform proper customer service. SIMPLE. Not that hard to understand. Luckily a nice staff member handed me my order. She was polite and kind, so I tipped her $20 just for being decent.
Not sure what “Betsy’s” issue was, but if you’re going to work in customer service, especially in an area full of professionals and servicemen, attitude like that doesn’t fly. Food was solid, but the customer service?...
Read moreWe decided to try The Good Egg since it was close to our hotel and had some decent reviews, but unfortunately our experience matched many of the negative reviews we had read.
Our waitress only checked on us once during the entire meal, despite checking on tables beside and behind us several times. It honestly felt like we were being overlooked, and we weren’t sure if it was because we were tourists or not.
We waited about 55 minutes for our food without any updates or check-ins. When it finally arrived, it was disappointing. We ordered the pancakes with eggs and the chicken and waffle. The eggs were cold with an absence of seasoning, the pancakes were dry and lacked flavor (though at least they were hot), and the chicken and waffles were only lukewarm with little taste. The waffle itself was dry and hard.
I feel like an idiot for wasting my money here and not just getting up and walking out. Between the lack of communication, the long wait, and the underwhelming food, this was a frustrating dining experience. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend it based...
Read moreThe food, staff, and atmosphere are all amazing! Bottom line- I highly recommend visiting.
I came on Memorial Day, and expected that it would be packed. It was; but the hostess greeted me promptly and I was seated within 5-7 minutes. I sat at the bar, and watched the ladies hustling and bustling with all smiles, ensuring to serve everyone promptly and in great spirits.
At one point I noticed a guy coming in every 3-5 minutes to ask if their tables for a party of (17!) were ready yet. The gentleman who seemed to be taking lead on preparing their tables was very patient in explaining that they were preparing and would update him, but the patron was very pushy and impatient- he ended up walking out when the table was almost ready because he was told of a standard compulsory 20% service charge (tip) for large groups. I commend the gentleman assisting him for his professional demeanor in dealing with a challenging customer.
Overall great experience and I expect to return during my brief stay.
Bonus: the coffee is strong and did wonders...
