To you. You who is deciding to follow the Lord. You don't need a Sally Sue Story or tragedy to have an influential testimony to come to the Lord.

You can already have a beautiful and blessed life. Following the Lord multiplies your blessings and protects you from shenanigans of the enemy. An arrow's tip may touch but not pierce (Psalms 91) because the Lord will protect you.

3*s because: We need to hear a positive testimony from start to finish not of drugs, sex, and homelessness, molestation or depression. Life doesn't have to be a struggle.

I'm here ya'll. Today is tropical Storm Sunday Hurricane Hilary. It's slightly raining but many of us are present. If there's any place I would want to be, it is at church. I'm here because it is closest between home and the storm.

PRAISE AND WORSHIP The spiritual music production is outstanding. The tones in the music speak directly to the spirit and tears roll down every cheek or hands raise up. The physical response is uncontrolled with the Lord's presence.

THE MESSAGE The message at The Rock is still casual & simplistic with infusion of scriptures. You leave feeling good as a human instead of feeling guilty or like a sinner.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY The children's church runs efficiently with a check-in and safety system.

YOUTH MINISTRY The youth group is community filled. However, the topics are youth selected and many youths have had troubles and brokenness and as a parent, those topics should be handled by a spiritual therapist at a different time. My kiddo couldn't identify with the topics and for me not parent approved. Nonetheless, it is a large youth group. Ask questions to the youth pastor to see if it aligns with your family values.

The best highlight of the Rock Church is a lot of thoughtfulness in planning youth activities, youth connection and youth ministry, within and beyond the church walls.

It's seems odd to rate a place of worship 3 stars, but that is how the cookie crumbles. I've been praising here for 5 years. My kiddos love the vibe so if this is how they speak to the Lord, I will not intervene.

Although there is no choir, there is a praise and worship band which is phenomenal. To be clear, many of The Rock Church bands rotate so whichever band visits on that given Sunday you will be blessed with the music. The visual effects with the music is always quite impressive every single time I worship here.

If I were a new faith person, a beginner with an understanding about God, a young adult fortifying faith, or a place to serve in many ways-The Rock can fulfill that space.

This is one of the best Christian book stores that I have ever visited. Let's be real sometimes the Bible can be boring. However, the Bible selection includes real life applicable examples and affirmations within the text to help guide your journey to understanding who God is and why you matter. To continue, there's beginner Bibles books, and affirmation faith based books. In whatever part of your journey there is a gift waiting for you. Not only are books available but also gift cards, faith jewelry, spiritual greetings cards, hanging posters, just like at and other bookstore.

Why I would recommend The Rock? Here's a few reasons I would say yes.

Come as you are-no judgment. You will always be greeted with a smile and a blessing. The sermon is elementary. If you are age 7 or above, you can understand the message. You can find your place given several small group ministries (e.g. hiking, art, Toastmasters, women, men's, youth, married, singles, knitting, motorcycle)-everything! Free. No pressure to convert or tithe. Worship music moves you to tears.

PARKING/LOCATION: On Sundays, depending on which time you visit, you can get very lucky and park really close, or have to park really far and just walk. Located near Vons, Panera Bread, Starbucks, and other great restaurants in Liberty Station, the church brings in a good stream of business for its neighbors throughout the week, not just on Sundays.

WALKING THROUGH THE DOORS FOR THE FIRST TIME: I imagine someone new to the Rock church or just visiting will feel extremely overwhelmed when they first walk inside. Don't expect it to look very "church-y" because it's more of a building than a typical church where you'd expect to see a huge crucifix hanging on the wall. We've got that too but it's displayed very differently here. ;)

STRAIGHT AHEAD: Past the entrance doors, if the service will be doing a communion that Sunday, you'll notice a table with buckets filled with little communion cups (of grape juice and a wafer). Grab one if you plan on attending service. Past that, you'll immediately be standing inside the building's lobby and welcome/reception area. Behind this welcome/reception area are the elevators which can take you to the second and third floors of the sanctuary. (There are also stairs.) Past the elevators on the bottom floor, to your right is the church bookstore, and behind the bookstore is an area to eat at D'Lush. Past that you will be reaching the backside of the church. A nice little park area with astroturf grass, and a playground up top.

TO YOUR LEFT: The main sanctuary. The sanctuary has 2 doorways on the bottom and top floors. If there is worship going on, you can view it from the LCD screens (on the bottom floor) they have hanging against the left wall (in front of the sanctuary), and you'll notice people starting to walk inside, as they are being greeted by an usher/greeter and handed a lesson plan/bulletin. Just before entering the main sanctuary though (you can even ask an usher/greeter) there is a room reserved for nursing moms, and a TV which broadcasts a live feed of the service happening in the sanctuary. Pretty nice and quiet. Gentle area with some soft seats/sofas... changing area, etc.

TO YOUR RIGHT: To your immediate right is the entrance way to the Children's Ministry, where parents can drop off their kids and have them learn what they learn, but at their age level. Plan on coming early if you are thinking of bringing your kids here. Typically, no kids under the age of 5 are allowed in the main sanctuary so plan accordingly. :) Past the bookstore to your right, is the entrance way to the cafeteria area. I haven't been there lately during service, but I used to attend service in the cafeteria area (watching it broadcast live on TV on both sides). Great place to catch service while you eat if you haven't had breakfast or lunch yet. Not sure if this has changed, but if not, there should also be an usher/greeter at the front of this entrance as well. :)

THE EXPERIENCE: The experience is different for everyone. It really depends on you. To get the most out of it, you really want to have an open heart and mind once entering the sanctuary. Don't worry about anyone else around you. This is going to be YOUR time with God. No one else should fit into that equation. Prepare yourself for whatever message the pastor will be teaching that Sunday, and even if you may not believe in God (yet?), know that His presence is everywhere. It wouldn't hurt to ask whoever this God is that's got so many Rock church goers ALIVE IN HIM to "speak" to you through the message that day. Made the decision to follow...

This place is blessed I had a profound supernatural encounter with the presence of God here about ten years ago and a woman I knew said the same thing happened to her during the worship so most definitely God seems to be heavily involved with the Rock church organization. Now my brother and his friend were homeless and came asking for help they needed clothes the staff was very curt with them and offered no help not even prayer. I feel that if you are on staff with a church you are called to a higher level of Christlikeness than just regular folk and you need to demonstrate that. Now, something Else that bothered me was the fact that the preacher Miles made up his own definition of fasting which is false and unbiblical. He claims fasting is giving up anything for the Lord, i.e social media, coffee, cigarettes, etc. That is incorrect and will only do harm to the body of Christ by loosening the standards of God's demands on us. Now about 8 years or so ago I was filled with the power of God at an extremely high level to the point it was overflowing from my body this only happened a few times in my life but it illicits different responses from people. The rock had a bald tall 40ish security guard 8 years ago on staff I'm not sure if he's still there but when I walked through the front doors he reacted in a very unusual "terrified" manner, I thought to myself this man most certainly has serious unrepentant sin in his life im not even sure if he's still there this was all about 8 years ago when I went to the rock frequently for a few years but this particula man he was constantly present on staff with security standing by the entrance doors there was no warmth about him I gave him the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe its just his personality and he's ex-military but when I noticed the way he reacted when I was filled with God's presence I knew most definitely he has very serious willful sin in his life . Now also my ex husband went to ask the staff for help after a service and they told him to go on the intetent to find the answers he needed, he and I both thought that was a very unhelpful reposnese as he needed guidance right there and then. Their pastor Karen Steven's she is super godly and extremely mature in the Lord she is part of the rock church at least when I went there 8 years ago so there are most definitely impressive aspects to this church. One last thing the rock church is FREQUENTLY begging for money similar to the awaken church style the pastor Miles once said we need to give an acceptable donation because the building cost millions of dollars. I'm assuming they are still in debt for their point Loma building. I thought to myself, why is this church so ambitious wanting to build new locations and wanting money for their charitable programs does that show good stewardship of God's money when you are wasting it on interest for a debt you are not solely focused on paying off??? But you know God's working on them they are doing a lot of good providing people with a convenient place to worship with dependable childcare so you know they help a lot of people I still go there sometimes when my schedule demands i go due to the location but I mostly went there between 15 and...
