ZENTRL Kitchen + Bar - Liberty Station — Restaurant in San Diego

My family and I love watching movies at the Lot. We decide to grab some coffee at Zentrl this morning before the movie. I walk up to what looks like a coffee bar and the red haired staff member behind the counter completely ignores me, the bartender gives me a dirty look as I approach. No good morning, no welcome in. Once I say good morning just so that I can be acknowledged, it’s then that the bartender says, “Someone will be right with you.” Mind you there are 2 parties in the restaurant, 1 of them is my family. Second time I’ve been here and last time service was cold as well. What is your staff’s problem? Seriously! Were we bothering you guys, I’m sorry. People normally walk up to a coffee bar to order, coffee. Sorry to be a customer. Oh and fill your pastry station with pastry. If you open for breakfast, be prepared. We waited over 20 minutes for 3 coffees, one of our items was made wrong. For the record, our waitress did remake it and was polite about doing so. Also, if you were ever thinking about ordering a Matcha Latte do yourself a favor and don’t (see picture) unless you want a cup full ice, milk, 1/4 cup of sugar, and 1/8 teaspoon of matcha. I hate writing these kinds of reviews but your substandard quality of service and treatment of customers is atrocious. I came here for lunch after seeing the taco Tuesday ad but came on a Wednesday … my fault not theirs! I then saw sushi and learned the sushi chef wasn’t in until 3, another one of my own disappointments. But things got better when my gluten free flatbread chicken pizza came out and it was delicious!

The staff were friendly and professional, the restaurant itself is clean and beautiful. Would have loved some umbrellas or covering to sit outside and enjoy the weather but there was no shade or covering.

Went to ZENTRL for a company lunch and had a fantastic experience. I ordered the grilled salmon burger and it was hands down the best salmon I’ve ever had—so flavorful and perfectly cooked and the sauces and mango slaw were fire. I swapped the fries for a side salad with champagne vinaigrette, which was light and fresh. The service was excellent. Staff made sure we had everything we needed, including to-go containers, utensils, and napkins for leftovers. They checked in often and were super attentive. I’ll definitely be back.
