Breakfast Republic is a very solid brunch option in the San Diego area! I particularly love this Liberty Station location and have visited it a few times now.
I'd give Breakfast Republic 4.5 stars for a rating if I could. It's almost perfect, but just not quite. Don't get me wrong, the drinks and the food here are all delicious. I just feel that they are a little bit pricey and that there is limited variety in the types of food offerings that are available.
This location, like most Breakfast Republic locations, can get very crowed on the weekends, as they're quite popular in the San Diego area. As for as I know, there's not a way to add yourself to a waiting list before arriving, so it can be a bit of a wait before you'll be seated on some days. I definitely feel the wait here is worth it, however. It's a relaxing atmosphere, the service is quick and friendly, and the food is brought out relatively quickly.
They also have lots of mimosa options for brunch, although sometimes I prefer to get their lattes and mochas, which are also delicious and come in very aesthetically pleasing white mugs that say 'Breakfast Republic' on them! A lot of the dishes for the food are very pleasing aesthetically as well! I particularly enjoy some of the seasonal offerings, such as the candy cane peppermint mocha, which tasted incredible and helped me to feel very cozy and relaxed!
The food here is of excellent quality, and I thoroughly enjoy the way they prepare their eggs and potatoes on their different dishes. It is definitely a breakfast focused place, however, hence its name. They do it very well! I just sometimes wish that there was a little bit more variety with the menu and some more lunch-centric food options. What they have, however, does indeed all taste incredible! One dish in particular that I thought was a bit unique to this place and that I found to be exceptionally delicious was their breakfast bacon macaroni and cheese! I love getting over-easy eggs on the top of it and then mixing in the gooey eggs with the cheesy macaroni and adding a little bit of hot sauce. Yum!
I love Breakfast Republic, particularly its Liberty Station location. I will definitely continue to regularly visit it whenever I am in the...
Read moreMy wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Breakfast Republic, and we have to say, it was an absolutely delightful experience! The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the mushrooms and pesto egg benedict - we both could hardly contain our excitement when it arrived at our table! The poached eggs were cooked to perfection and oozed out a velvety yolk when cut into. The mushrooms were earthy and tender, while the pesto added a refreshing burst of herbaceous flavor. The hollandaise sauce was silky and rich, and tied all the flavors together beautifully. But the real surprise came in the form of the side of cinnamon roll pancakes - they were heavenly! The fluffy pancakes were swirled with a cinnamon-sugar filling that was just the right amount of sweet, and they were topped with a generous drizzle of cream cheese frosting. It was like having dessert for breakfast, and we were in pure bliss!
My wife's meal at Breakfast Republic was equally impressive. She decided to try the shrimp and ricotta scramble omelette, which was a delightful combination of savory and tangy flavors. The omelette was light and fluffy, with perfectly cooked shrimp and dollops of creamy ricotta scattered throughout. The dish was executed flawlessly and made her taste buds dance with joy. And of course, the side of brioche French toast was a must-try. The thick slices of brioche bread were toasted to a golden brown and had a wonderfully rich and buttery flavor. The maple syrup drizzle and dusting of powdered sugar elevated the dish to new heights of decadence.
Overall, we would highly recommend Breakfast Republic to anyone who appreciates excellent food and a cozy atmosphere. The attention to detail in each dish was evident, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. The mushrooms and pesto egg benedict with a side of cinnamon roll pancakes are an absolute must-try, as is the shrimp and ricotta scramble omelette with a side of brioche French toast. We will definitely be returning to try more of their...
Read moreDisappointing. My husband and I spent the weekend in San Diego for our anniversary. Went to dinner and a show Saturday night, had a great time and thought we'd get breakfast in liberty station before heading home. The wait to get seated was the only positive. Julian was our server, he didn't introduce himself, we learned his name from hearing him introduce himself to the table next to us. We got seated at the same time as another couple and within 1 minute, he greeted them and got their drink orders. We waited thinking he would come to us next, but instead he proceeded to help other tables without even giving us a glance. By the time he came to our table, we had waited for 13 minutes. He got our drink and food orders and was gone again. He brought back our drinks, my drink order was hot when I asked for iced but I accepted the drink anyway noting they were somewhat busy. Another table to our right was seated with a party of four and he approached them almost immediately and introduced himself. He took their drink and food orders and was off again. We waited and watched while he checked in with other tables but not us. Then somehow the table with the party of four was served their food before us. They had much more detailed dishes, such as breakfast potatoes and burritos, side dishes and more while we both only ordered pancakes. Our food arrived about 6 mins after the party of four table by another waiter. By this time, my husband is very upset as we have watched Julian cater to every other table but ours. My husband also asked for more syrup from another waiter and it never came, until we got Julian's attention to ask for more. The whole experience was very odd and disheartening as this was our first time there. We spent the majority of our time there just waiting to be helped instead of enjoying our meal and the atmosphere. Needless to say, our anniversary breakfast was not pleasant and I am sure we...
