I dropped by this store today after my daily walk around Liberty Station, a place I am very fond of and enjoy visiting. Unfortunately, this particular Sephora did not endear me to it. While browsing foundation shades, I was looked at with disgust by one of the store's employees when she entered the floor from the back room. After looking at me like I shocked/appalled her, she turned to another customer nearby, warmly greeted her, and asked how she could help her. I proceeded to look for a foundation that might match me and clearly could have used some recommendations/help. Multiple other workers ignored me and didn't ask if I needed anything - presumably because I didn't look like the "right" clientele to bother helping. There definitely seemed to be an appearance-based bias for their treatment; the other customer who was helped was tan, fit, and had makeup on.
I entered the store in a hat, with no makeup on. I'm pretty pale and look a bit younger in person than my actual age. It's possible they mistook me (a woman in her 20s) for a minor, but I've been treated much better as a minor when I've visited other Sephora locations. And regardless, you don't deliberately gawk at and ignore a customer, no matter how little you think they fit your idea of beauty.
I left the store without purchasing anything and will never visit this store again. I have never been treated with such disregard at an establishment and am not interested in repeating the experience. Hopefully this business will start being more inclusive and respectful. It would be nice to see in a state that so often fixates on a narrow...
Read moreWent to this location about 2 weeks ago and was the worse experience I’ve had at a Sephora. There were about 6 workers on the floor and every single one of them ask me what I was looking for (understand when one or two ask, but all of them?). I went here to try on some perfumes and see which one I liked the most to buy, but I had people so close observing me that wasn’t comfortable at all. I left the store to let the fragrance set and see how it adapted to my ph and came back about 30 minutes before close time. They had lights turned off already but door was open and two girls were standing right in the entrance, they told me they were closed, but even though I knew I was there 30 minutes before close time I understood and told them I just needed to take a photo of a product that I’d just order online (couldn’t remember the name of the fragrance, but knew where it was) and they didn’t allow me. I even said that I could give them my phone to take the photo if I they were closing early but they just said no (all of this inside of the store) and that I needed to leave, but that if I wanted to buy I could come back next day when they opened. Least to say they didn’t say this nicely, they were both condescending. I see this is isn’t new at this location, and Sephora should do something about the people they hire and teach them how to actually treat...
Read moreStore was clean but did not have as much selection as the one at the mall on friars. There were a lot of employees but they were not super helpful. One girl did help me out, as I was buying face makeup for the first time and needed some assistance. She wasn’t super knowledgeable (I ended up calling my sister for help) and when I gave her a list of suggested products her referred me to Rare Beauty. I am pretty sure she’s a Selena Stan, cus she kept referring to her as “my girl Selena…” didn’t think much of it and went with the concealer. Did not like the applicator and will be retuning it as it’s too challenging to use.
Even though this location is closer to my house than the one at the mall… and has a lot less parking stress, I will be going to the mall instead so that I can get proper in...
