I've been following Horchateria RL on Instagram for what feels like forever and I finally visited the San Fernando location a couple months ago with my friend CK. It's a small store with street parking only but street parking is fairly easy to find. It's right next to the SF Library so the location is convenient too!
We got there early so their churros weren't ready yet so we killed time at a nearby Target until the time they told us to come back at. Karmen helped us out with figuring out our order and she was so friendly and helpful and kind!!! I knew I was getting the Twosdae but CK just wanted to taste it but she also didn't want to deprive me of my mini churros since it only comes with two of them. She asked Karmen if we could add one extra mini churro to my order and Karmen agreed! Which already was nice but Karmen comped it for us so that was even nicer! She is such a sweetheart
We ate in their side patio area and wow it was so good! CK kept raving that the horchata ice cream was the best ice cream she's ever had and we just devoured the Twosdae. If you like horchata, you have to come here. It's definitely...
Read moreMy wife and I discovered the Horchateria Rio Luna through Instagram, and it has quickly become our addiction! The Horchata Steamer and the Horchata drink itself are absolutely amazing. The taste is so authentic—it really feels like you're sipping on a traditional, homemade horchata.
We've also tried the green chilaquiles, which are perfectly crunchy and fresh, and you can choose the egg exactly how you like it. It's honestly so good. As someone with a major sweet tooth, I appreciate that I can indulge here and still feel great, unlike the usual chain coffee shops we try to avoid.
From the very beginning, the customer service has been incredibly friendly and sweet—always making us feel welcomed. The atmosphere of the place is like a modern coffee shop but with tons of cozy, homey touches that hit close to home. The music always sets the perfect vibe, and the art on the walls is such a nice touch to the space.
Overall, this place is a must-visit! Whether you're a horchata fan or just looking for a chill spot to hang out, Horchateria Rio Luna will...
Read moreI am so happy we have another option for coffee, tea and breakfast.
I first came when it opened and concha ice cream sandwiches were all the rage. Now, it quieted down and offer many other new items. I recently came after not coming for a few years and was happy to find some delicious loose leaf tea. They have the classic baggie teas, but my favorite drink is the jamaica and rose petal tea. It's a perfect combo and now that I am older I can't drink sweet drinks, so this is pleasant and flavorful. I order it without sugar, and it's a great treat or breaktime from work.
Sometimes I grab a dessert and I recommend the guava cheese roll or the tres leches cake slice.
Today, I tried the chilaquiles estilo divorciado (so both red and green sauce) nd the spicy level was perfect. A little kick but enough for the flavor to make you happy. The eggs were perfectly over easy and I can't wait to try the other breakfast items.
Prices are great too. The other two breakfast places down the street are insanely expensive, but this...
