I went in and got a Gameboy SP for $120. I have an Everdrive GBA cartridge and I put it into the Gameboy and played. At first there wasn't any issue but after playing for some time, my game would freeze because I would put pressure on the cartridge and didn't realize how sensitive it was. When I tried to use a link cable, it would freeze the game and so I tried putting the link cable first and then turning it on, but then it wouldn't read the cartridge. The SP also couldn't hold a charge and so after the 2nd day of playing, I would see all of these issues. I was then ready to go back and try to see if I could just get an exchange for a gameboy advance so I wouldn't put pressure on the cartridge and get the rest refunded or at least in store credit. I then got sick with COVID and called that same day saying I wanted to come in for these issues, but I didn't wanna come in with COVID. The person on the phone told me that I could just come after I felt better and so I said "okay, that's good to know" because I was worried about getting there after the refund policy would expire. I got to the store when I was finally better, it was past the refund date, but I went in confidently thinking I would get the help I needed. The person that helped me the first time was there but he was clocking out and I ran the situation with him quickly so he would know that if any issues came up, he would be aware. The person that actually "helped" me asked me what happened, I explained the issues and then handed him the Gameboy SP to check it. The problems I had were with this custom hardware and it was an issue I didn't expect but encountered as soon as I used the SP and I know it works completely fine on my DS Lite because the cartridge isn't in a spot where I could apply pressure. The guy that had the SP turned it on and I had fire red in there, because I had tested to see if it was an issue with traditional Nintendo hardware (worked with no issues[probably because the Everdrive tech is more sensitive]), I noticed that he was giving me some very subtle looks as if he thought I was making it up. He looked at me and said something along the lines of, "even if you were lying to me, this SP is still gonna sell, and we will be able to fix the issues", at first I felt like I was looking too far into it but then everything he said made me feel like he had some suspicions about me and it irritated me slowly. I had a receipt too and he didn't care to see it and then just said I can give you store credit and it would be 120, but I'm now assuming that they are likely to buy any SP at that price especially considering that my partner (the one that bought me the SP at this very store) had the receipt and after we left I asked how much we bought it for originally and it was 140. I could still be wrong and that I was actually hooked up for the 120 and that they give less, but it just didn't feel that way. So essentially I lost 20 bucks to be forced to return to get myself a GBA whenever they get one, since they ran out and when I was there originally they had two and I remember that price being around 90 If I can recall correctly, and when I do get that, I'll still have money left that I'm forced to use in store. Now if the guy didn't mention anything about lying, I would've seen this as, "well, I was late on the return so if I don't get the full refund, then it's fine, at least I get the 120" and I could accept that, but lying was mentioned in what felt a very accusatory manner and it just really rubbed me...
Read moreNice owner. Nice employees. Honest, friendly, and professional. Have a huge selection of games and consoles. Have trading cards as well and arcade machines in the front to play. I had a very minor issue with an snes game I bought from them. Game works perfectly fine but one screw was broken on the cartridge. I didn’t check it fully before I purchased so it was my fault. With retro games this old, or anything old/vintage for that matter, stuff like this can happen. I brought it in the next day since I didn’t have the gamebit to open it myself and check. They opened it, showed me the issue, offered a solution, and showed me how they will fix it, and apologized for the inconvenience even though it was a very small issue with the game cartridge. They also host events to buy/trade/sell games which is nice and brings the gaming community together. Ive been here about 4-5 times so far, got some gba, gamecube, snes games and always had a good experience. Everything I purchased works as advertised and expected. I went to one retro madness event they hosted and it was a pleasant experience. Store has fair prices along with discounts on certain...
Read moreSold me a resealed Arceus ETB and when I brought it back packs and all they offered at best half of it back as credit. I already over paid for this. It was $95 just to get scammed. In top of it all the team was tryna make it seem like I was the one in the wrong for even opening the set
Update:
I went back and was talking to the staff and purchasing again trying to just forget the fact that I was scammed and still support this small business, Elliot had me wait for him while he was coming back to talk to me and then banned me from the store without my credit or even completing my purchase. He was crying and shaking from how nervous and angry he had his fist clenched up ready for action and I just smiled at him in disbelief. When I asked him about the evidence I left in his possession he said he threw it away because it was trash! So please remember to spend your money elsewhere because this emotionally and physically stunted individual will scam you and rob you of your hard earned money something...
