Totally disappointed. I love coffee. I read coffee blogs. Sightglass is incredible coffee and the SOMA location is awesome, but this place brings shame to the name.
Today I walk in around noon to get some reading done and grab some espresso. There's a long line and I'm still riding high from my morning coffee so I grab a seat put my headphones in and start working. After about 15 minutes one of the guys behind the counter comes over and asks me if he can get me anything. I reply that I'm gonna wait for a bit and then order. He walks away, heads back to work and life goes on. I think to myself .. 'what great service this place has that he would come up and check on me.'
5 minutes later same guy walks up to me and taps the counter next to me to get my attention. I take my headphones off and he tells me, "you're gonna have to order something or get out. It's getting full. I have water for $1." ... Seriously??? I could stay if I pay $1?
Forget this place, I'm upset. whatever if you don't recognize me from the last 30 times I came in but really you're gonna hustle me? This is a coffee shop and both seats next to me are empty as is a seat down the row and one at the end of the counter. I'm not tryin' to get hustled by my coffee shop.
With so much competition in North Beach it's easy to make the decision to avoid this place. I'm sticking with Cafe Trieste and...
Read moreI stopped in on a whim one morning for a breakfast burrito and an iced lavender matcha latte. The lavender syrup is made in house and deliciously subtle, but I will say the matcha flavor was barely there. I was watching the barista though and noticed she brewed the matcha for two separate drinks and unevenly split them between the two so my drink had noticeably less matcha than the other drink which may have had some influence on that. Additionally, the burrito was decently tasty, though definitely lacking in texture for my taste- it was considerably mushy and wet with no crunch whatsoever. They are pre-made (so not made to order) which I’m sure only adds to the mushy effect. The actual storefront was cute, very bright and airy with a few different books and trinkets for purchase, not to mention the staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, it’s a decent spot for a quick bite or drink if you’re...
Read moreI came here to grab a quick lunch near my office and wanted to try a new place. I’ve seen this place numerous times and thought I’d give it a try.
I ordered the smoothie with the coffee shot in it and the Turkey Sandwich. The sandwich was really good. The pesto dressing was delicious and a great sauce to add to the sando. The bread looked thick, but it was a great choice given how “saucy” the sandwich was.
As for the smoothie, it was disappointing. It was very watery and had a consistency of juice. Perhaps too much ice was used in making it, but it wasn’t good and I’d avoid it.
The space in itself was nice and the service was friendly! I’ll have to try a cappuccino here one of these days to see how their coffee is, but for now I can highly recommend the...
