Good sandwich, but the price was way too high for the portion.
I ordered the chicken katsu sandwich, which was a little over $15 after tax. I'm thinking it might be the size of a burger, but it wasn't. The sandwich was really small. It reminded me of an after school snack. Even if I wanted a snack, $15 is too high. I can go to 2 other places nearby to get some light nourishment.
As far as flavor, it was good. The chicken wasn't greasy. It had a good crunch from the breading and the cabbage. The katsu sauce mixed well with the kewpie mayo. The bread is like a milk bread, and wasn't toasted. It actually paired well with the crispy chicken.
Since today is their grand opening, everything is still nice and clean. It's very small, with a few bar stools. But considering how small the sandwich was, I bet turnover is fast. They do sell coffee, including an ube latte, but it was too late in the day for me to drink caffeine.
Apparently they had a lot of trouble earlier today. But whatever happened, they smoothed it over because service for me was quick, though there wasn't a line of people.
I'll probably come back because I get a discount next month, but that may be the last time. I can get a chicken katsu plate, also nearby, for just $13, so paying more for a tiny sandwich isn't gonna cut it. They'll need to somehow make their products worth the price, either by providing a larger portion or charging less, if they're going to stay...

Read moreOverpriced food and lack of seating and restrooms makes this restaurant a pass.
The prices on the menu caught my eye. The sandwiches ranged from $12 to $25. Truffle fries were $16 when there's a place about five blocks away selling them for less than $10. There are similar restaurants on Clement that have seating, similar sandwiches, and lower prices. I decided to order the Gyoza (6pc) for $9. After a 12-minute wait, I finally received my food in a paper box. They were Sohla El-Waylly's recipe for Bon Appetit, pork and scallion dumplings with a crispy skirt, and were crammed into the box and tasted like the frozen ones you can buy a big bag of for $5 in a supermarket.
Overall, I don't think this is a good place to spend your money when there are so many better and less expensive restaurants nearby offering similar food. Only one person seemed to be working, which meant if anybody else entered the restaurant, they would've had to wait a while to place an order. Also, no ingredient substitutions to accommodate allergies are allowed for the sandwiches, which is absurd, since they're supposedly...
