Service was lackluster and food was terrible. Let me explain.
Got there and ordered a paneer tikka burrito for myself and the wifey ordered a thali. Place looked moderately packed with people so we thought it must be decent. Boy were we wrong.
My burrito was brought out first. When I bit into it, the taste i got was wasn’t of paneer and rice which are the main toppings, it was of chickpeas. And not good chickpeas, they tasted extremely over seasoned with cardamom. To the point that it made it bitter. Took the food back and thought they had made a mistake and given me a chickpea burrito. Nope, the paneer tikka burrito came with chickpeas in it and it was listed at the bottom of the ingredient list. There was a lot more chickpeas than paneer.
I returned my food and asked to have something else made. And they charged me full price for it. Even that dish (kati roll) was so/so. I give it a 6/10. The dressing on the salad was a complete disappointment as well. The only good thing about my meal was the Indian soft drink I got.
When they brought my wife’s death by tikka masala thali out, she noticed it was missing the naan they promised came with it. She had to ask for it. They also never brought utensils. One bite of the paneer and it had the same horrible problem of being over spiced with cardamom and clove. It tasted way off. We are Indian and understand the importance of spices, the taste profile of everything was way off. She said the chicken tikka was ok, the sauce was different than the paneer tikka.’Chana was horrible.
It was also super expensive and the bathrooms were not clean.
I was totally shocked of my experience given the decent reviews on google. I would enoucrage everyone who has had a bad experience speak out about this overpriced farce that they tried to call Indian food. Please do yourself a favor and try a real...
Read moreIt's pretty funny to see the reviews of this place hating on it saying it's not legit Indian food. Yeah, that's kind of the point. They make burritos, quesadillas, burgers, and pizzas that have Indian cuisine ingredients in them, that's the concept. It's the bold, rich fusion you'd expect from a place that took its cue from its humble food truck beginnings.
The fools that go in here and order a thali platter and are disappointed are probably the same people that would be disappointed by ordering and judging their experience from the kids menu at another restaurant. My point is that the thali platter is the outlier from the main menu for those that don't get the fact that this is a casual fusion joint, not an authentic Indian restaurant.
OK, enough defense of Curry Up Now, here's what you need to try:
Chicken Tikka Masala Burrito - it's amazing; it's made for lovers of Indian food and Mexican food. I get without the garbanzo beans and extra tikka masala sauce, it's perfect. Naughty Naan with Paneer - It's like Indian pizza/flat bread; the paneer, tikka masala sauce and naan blend perfectly together and the jalapenos add a fresh, spicy kick to it. Deconstructed Samosa - Chunks of tiny samosas floating in a sea of chutney, pico, and garbanzo beans, also good with the paneer.
The only reason that I don't give this place 5 stars is their service is hit or miss, they screw up orders, etc. but I've never experienced rude service. Ever. They once forgot to process a delivery order and I waited like an hour before they figured it out but then they made the food really quickly and had it over my place in 30 mins AND refunded me my entire...
Read moreOriginal review: I visited Curry Up Now recently and was disappointed with the experience. While the street style curry offered nothing particularly unique, what truly soured my experience was their unethical pricing practices. During a BOGO promotional period on Uber Eats, they shamelessly up charges their prices. This type of deceptive behavior is unacceptable and speaks volumes about their business ethics. If they're willing to trick customers into paying more online, it raises concerns about their overall integrity and what else they might compromise, potentially even food quality. Avoid falling for their tactics and consider supporting businesses with more...
