Donut World — Restaurant in San Francisco

Need to grab a donut before you're 6 am shift?!? Well if you work at the near by UCSF location then this may be the case...and if so this is where you'll stop. I've been here several times and the donuts are consistently pleasing. Are they the most amazing donuts that I've ever had? No, but they are simple and fairly priced. You can get a simple donut for $0.95 and something more fancy like an apple fritter for about $1.95. I've gotten a couple dozen and brought them into work. They are open 24 hours and are cash only, but have an ATM in case you forget your cash. The decor is simple with a couple tables and chairs. I know it may sounds silly - but this may be one of my favorite places in the city. They are open so late! usually 12am, or at least 11pm, and sometimes it's just the pick me up you need after a long day to have a little sugar boost. I feel like this is one of SF's best kept secrets. Never too busy, always plenty of choices no matter what time you come in (morning or night). I especially love them because it's one of the only donut shops that still makes french crullers (very hard to find) - AND these adorable star and heart shaped donuts, with option of sprinkles, filling, and strawberry flavor! So if you need donuts for a morning meeting, or having one of those days, or a crazy late night Saturday and need a sweet pick me up...

Thank goodness that places like this still exist. You can get a delicious donut and a comforting, no frills cup of donut shop coffee for dirt cheap. There is a huge selection here at the beginning of the day, so come early to get your first pick (I'm partial to their old-fashioned donuts). They are open way late, too, making this place the perfect destination for a nighttime outing. As an added bonus, it doesn't seem to ever get too busy, making it one of the few neighborhood spots where you won't have to brave a line.
