One of the best places I've had for good quality food but with extremely large quantities. Without a doubt this place is a must try if you enjoy good authentic Chinese dishes and employ the college mentality of large quantities is ideal
As a whole, I only came here because I saw a friend check in and this was my first meal of the day and couldn't really find anything I craved so I walked over here and thought it would be a sit down location. It wasn't. Even so, it bad because their mapo tofu and dragon fried rice was so well made that I couldn't understand how the amount felt like a few lbs each
Overall, the food was heavy which made me happy but the real winner was how well each dish was made too. The meal was shared between both my friend and I but we barely made a dent in the meal. Personally the mapo tofu paired really well with the rice and it wasn't too spicy either which made the dish enjoyable for all. It did also have a umami flavor with the fermented beans that helped to mellow the spicy flavors. Just the mapo tofu alone I would come back and their tofu is a bit more on the firm side which breaks the soft tofu convention but matches how I prefer tofu so something to consider
TL;DR great food and absolutely massive amounts of...
Read moreDumpling Baby, where have you been all my life?? I picked up my crispy honey sesame chicken, Shanghai chubby noodles, and hot and sour soup from the restaurant after ordering online. My order was ready early (yay!) and packed with immense care (nothing toppled over on the ride home). The chicken.... OMG. Normally, I would steer clear of any sort of sesame or fried chicken, as I'm really picky about chicken quality and only like chicken breast. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw on the menu that this was made with chicken breast -- and I had to try it. I now know what I've been missing all of these years! This chicken was so crispy, a tad bit sweet and a tad bit spicy, and a whole lot delicious! The chicken quality was excellent - 10/10! This is definitely a dish I will be craving. The chubby noodles were also very good. A little bit of a smoky flavor and a nice chew to them. The vegetables taste fresh, too. And the hot and sour soup was also great. Deep flavor, and just the right amount of spice. Overall, I'm super excited I found this place, which is likely my new "go-to" for Chinese cuisine. Hooray! (This was a good day in a smoky, hot, pandemic, murder...
Read moreDamn. I have been looking for a good good bowl of wor wonton soup for a long time ever since the Pine Garden restaurant in Newark closed. I happen to be visiting relatives and was driving by after 9:00 p.m. looking for hot soup and a place to sit down and I saw the sign and thought well, why not? This turned out better because it was a really good won ton soup. A nice simple chicken broth, pork wontons, a lot of nice vegetables and some mushrooms, piping hot and it hit the spot. Good size wontons, not the ones where somebody puts in a half teaspoon of meat, but a nice chunky chewable soup spoon sized ball of pork meat wrapped up nice. They have other items on the menu. See the pictures below and the website itself which I intend to try in the future. While I'm not in San Francisco a whole lot, this definitely will become one of my destinations should I be in the area. Oh, and typical Geary Street parking, you might be half a block away or two blocks away but it...
