I was in the area and this was the few places open for lunch in the later afternoon. I called in my order and got the spider rainbow roll, dragon roll, classical roll, and the bento with chicken teriyaki, tempura, and california roll. When we ordered the rolls, the person recommended a different roll that contained more fish variety, but since we ordered a lot already, we opted not to. (but maybe next time!)
The restaurant itself was quite nice! It reminds me of a more home-y japanese restaurant. I definitely want to dine in once it's safe. The person there seemed to be there alone, but he ended up giving us an additional udon for free!
The sushi looked great. We never tried a spider dragon or classical roll, but the fish really fresh. The sushi tasted great with generous portions without being messy. The udon was really good too! We thought he just gave us the udon noodles, but actually came with some veggies like bamboo and seaweed. It also came with 3 halves of eggs, extremely generous!! The bento box was also very generous with the amount of chicken and salad. It came with just three pieces of CA roll, but it was perfect amount for the whole bento together. The tempura came with eggplant which was definitely different, but was really good! The miso soup had a shrimp head in it which really surprised us. It tasted really good, and not overly salty like most places. The food seems pretty authentic and is super tasty!
I wish this place was closer to me since its definitely a local restaurant I want to support! I would highly recommend this place and hope to...
Read moreThis restaurant was quite underwhelming. The place was empty at 1:30 today, but I trusted the start rating here on Google Maps.
This turned out to be a mistake.
The atmosphere and decorations were fine. Everything was clean and the menu looked good and interesting. Then came a free glass of hot tea. It seriously tasted like really bad tap water (is San Francisco's water really that bad? ). I ordered the "So Good Roll" while my wife got a bentonite box. Her box was standard with an untasty California Roll. Her salmon maki was normal. The chicken teriyaki was fine - had some black pepper taste with it. The salad was solid. The mixed tempura was very good with a uniquely good batter.
Then, my So So Roll. It was... well, it was tasty. But for 13 bucks, it was so small. I inhaled it in about four minutes and asked myself, "Is that it? " Lucky for me I got to eat some of my wife's meal since she wasn't so hungry.
But I didn't go here to get full from chicken teriyaki. I wanted the sushi and was disappointed.
The tea/water issue was... a horrible first impresson. No way to hide it. This wasn't a good bang for my buck. I'd rather return to that sushi place on Geary about 5-10 minutes wast of here on the same side of the road (past the Russian markets, past Starbucks, past the first, more fancy...
Read moreI used to come here at least once a week. I had a terrible experience last night and will never come back. I ordered online like i usually do. I show up 20 minutes later, and they haven't even started (there are a total of about 6 other people in the restaurant). They tell me to come back in another 20 minutes. I come back after another 20 minutes, and they haven't even started, but are bringing plates of food past me to tables who were seated after I was last there. They make me wait another 5-10 minutes. So after 45+ minutes of waiting, I get home and 1 of 3 rolls is missing fish. In disbelief, I walk back to the restaurant and show them. The chef comes out and sarcasticly and rudely says "how big do you want it? You want the whole fish?" I said i just wanted what I usually get (I also noticed that when my girlfriend orders, the rolls are pretty big. Very noticeable difference). He replies that I should just return it. So I do. So far, they still haven't issued me a refund. If they don't, I will challenge the charge with my credit card company and report them to the BBB and...
