Decades of Deliciousness!

I've been a customer at Freddie's Sandwiches for over twenty-five years and live just two blocks away. When I wanted to update my review, I realized that the comments from my 2016 review still hold true! So, I won't repeat that they still make the best sandwiches for the price, but I will share that I've added their Club Sandwich to my list of favorites.

Freddie's Club Sandwich comes with ham, turkey, and bacon, and you can add any combination of mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onions. The bread makes a huge difference, and if I may, I'd like to give you a hint: Go with hard sourdough bread, ask for it to be gutted out and toasted, and go light with the mayo. You will enjoy it.

Their coffee is also pretty good. It's drip coffee only, but the owner is a coffee enthusiast like myself and always has fresh, hot coffee available upfront. If coffee isn't your thing, they have plenty of non-alcoholic options to choose from. Their deli salads are made daily and can be a great companion to your sandwich.

The store is small, and there is no room to sit inside, but they have three or four small tables and chairs available outside if you and a companion or two want to have your sandwiches there.

The owner seems very serious at first, but after chatting and exchanging pleasantries, you'll find that he's actually a very nice and helpful person, as are the rest of his staff. They sometimes fill in behind the counter if...

A friend recommended we pass y this place for lunch on a bike ride through the city. We were in North Beach and decided to swing by.

The place is a decent size and is primarily made for take out though they have 4 small tables outside of you want to eat it there.

There is a decent section of chips & drinks which is good to accompany Andy great sandwich.

I usually get the same thing at any sandwich place I go to, a turkey sandwich on dutch crunch with everything and no mayo. They did a great job with it. The Dutch crunch was not too “bready” with good flaking, the sandwich was not overly stuffed and had good proportion. I highly recommend it.

They also have additional spreads (garlic, oil & vinegar) and a variety of breads too. Most importantly Freddie, is a super nice guy and is very welcoming to anyone who comes in,...

Ordered a sandwich for pickup through Uber Eats and waited in the car until the app showed it was ready. Walked into Freddie’s—only to find that the store never received my order.

I showed the confirmation. The guy behind the counter called Uber himself. Turns out something glitched on Uber’s side, and the order was never sent through. Uber canceled it.

But this guy didn’t miss a beat. He put in my order right away, and in just a few minutes, I had a delicious sandwich in my hands.

Why am I sharing this? Because stuff happens. We can choose to let it ruin our day—or not. Today, I didn’t. Got my sandwich. It was amazing. And I’m really thankful for the guy who took the time to make it right.

Once again:...
