Edit 9/25/25, response to Owner (who replied a year after post was made): Taking from 3 stars to 1 star due to Owner reply. TLDR: Curmudgeon thinks he's the soup nazi. Food and coffee aren't good enough to be the soup nazi. Don't go here. You imply that we didnt read the menu, but we ordered off of the menu: bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and an egg and cheese sandwich. YOU did not put bacon on the BACON egg and cheese sandwich. We asked for JUST an egg with cheese, with no bagel. You INSISTED we take the bagel. We were happy to pay for the bagel, but didnt want to waste it. Instead it got thrown away because a 4 year old doesn't always want to eat a bagel and some people are gluten intolerant. So instead of saving the business $2 and helping the environment, you forced us to take a bagel that was then throw out because it had egg and cheese on it and it wouldn't keep until lunch. We simply asked if you had gluten free options, and if you could do egg whites rather than scrambled eggs. This has nothing to do with how we reviewed you. Both in our conduct and our review, we were patient, polite, and reasonable. The way that you responded when we were in the café, and how you responded to this review ARE why it is reviewed poorly. Our inquiries have NOTHING to do with equipment. We asked for and paid for a bacon egg cheese breakfast sandwich and got NO BACON! We also asked that you just give us an egg with cheese with NO BAGEL. These things are not difficult and it is reasonable that one get what they order. This had nothing to do with equipment or space. It has everything to do with your unwillingness to listen, which is indexed by your reply. Also, the lattes were not good. I had said they were fine, but we hadn't had more than a sip when I wrote the review. They were undrinkable and were thrown out at the next trash can after the first sip. As for your snarky 'find a different café', my last sentence of the original post specifically said that we won't be back. I review a LOT of cafés (dozens upon dozens around the world, feel free to look at my profile for recommendations). We have NEVER had an experience like this. 2 previous service industry workers one of whom is from a family that owned several restaurants, bars, and bread and breakfasts. TLDR: Curmudgeon thinks he's the soup nazi. Food isn't good enough to be the soup nazi. Don't go here. Original post from 2024: Stopped by for breakfast and a latte. Nice enough folks, cute place, some good looking sweets options... Asked for an egg white for the little one, but that request seemed very confusing...and as they don't have any gluten free options, we asked for an egg and cheese sandwich without the bagel, which they simply couldn't do. We'll have to walk elsewhere to find someone that will give us an egg without the bread. We had ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel also and received a egg and cheese bagel. Pointed it out, and it was apparently too difficult to sort out getting a piece of bacon. Lattes were fine, better tasting options just a few blocks away. Sad that it didn't turn out differently, we had high hopes. We'll go elsewhere next time.

I recently visited caffe capriccio and had the opportunity to try their latte and bagel. Here’s a breakdown of my experience: **Quality:** The latte was quite enjoyable, with a smooth texture and rich flavor. The presentation was appealing, and it was evident that the barista put some care into crafting it. The bagel, while fresh, was fairly standard but still satisfying enough for a quick bite. **Food Selection:** One downside I noticed was the limited food menu. While the coffee selection was decent, the options for food were sparse, which might not cater to all tastes or preferences. A wider variety would definitely enhance the overall experience. **Pricing:** The price point was another significant factor for me. I found the cost of $25 for a coffee and a bagel to be quite steep, especially considering the limited food options. While I understand quality often comes at a premium, this felt excessive for what I received. **Overall Impression:** In summary, while Chaffee capriccio offers good quality beverages and decent bagels, the limited food choices and high prices may deter some customers. It’s a nice spot for a latte fix, but be prepared to spend more than expected. **Recommendation:** For a more budget-friendly option or a more extensive food selection, I would suggest exploring other nearby cafes. However, if you’re in the area and craving a good latte, it's worth a visit!

I was the first customer here on a Thursday morning. Based on the looks of the place, the pastries and the reviews I expected this to be top notch. Unfortunately that was far from the case. I had the sausage, egg and cheese bagel and it was quite the disappointment. I would rate it a 2.6/10 and that is being generous. For the price you would expect the food to be cooked in something other than a microwave. It was nearly $40 for two mediocre at best bagel sandwich’s and a drink. I would not recommend this place if you are looking for food. My girlfriend did like the coffee and is why this is a 3 star review not lower. Edit: After the response from the owner I am lowering this to a one star review. I think the response says everything you need to know about this place.

I LOVE this place! I live nearby and it's my neighborhood breakfast / lunch / coffee spot. Every time I'm there and see tourists who have stumbled upon it, it makes me happy they've found this local gem that is sure to make them fall in love with San Francisco and North Beach.

Their egg wrap is my favorite! It's prepared to order with a real egg and the lightly dressed greens they put in it are amazing. It's delicious and such a nice alternative to a greasy egg wrap or burrito and I always feel great after eating it. Their coffee is really good too! They're just a block or two up from Starbucks and their coffee is SO MUCH BETTER.

Their service is also great. They are super friendly and they've taken great COVID precautions. It's also really nice that you can see them making the food so you know that it's clean and safely prepared. I can't recommend this...
